Thank you Joe, I will be going to Texarkana this next week and will try and
get to their library and also to the LDS church there. They have helped me a
lot there.
Thanks again, Sandy
Dear Deeno,
You found him. The 1880 census lists him as being from Prussia but I am sure
that it is an error and that this is the same person. Thank you guys very
much. This means a lot to me and it has been very kind of you to help me.
Sincerely Yours

Dear Listmembers,
I am looking for Census information on my great great grandfather John Southwell. I am not sure that he was living in Belton, Texas in 1880 but he sure was soon after that. I know very little about him though he was the father in law of Ed Orthofer. Could someone look him up for me? Thank You.
Sincerely Yours

Lena, I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question but the Criswell
name stood out. I know some one remotely related, only through marriage, who
is researching Criswell's.

These are the names she is researching in addition to Criswell:
BROWN, BUCKLAND, CABANISS, CHERRY, CRISWELL, FITZGERALD, GRIMMETT, HALE,
IVY, JONES, LANGSTON, MEADOWS, MILLIGAN, NAPIER, ROBERTS, SCREWS, SMITH,

Did any of your Bell County ancestors originate in TN around the time of
the Civil War? (All of my Bell County Deavers spent the Civil War in TN
before coming to TX.) You might find the following article from the

Thanks to Skye Bobadilla, we now have a start on a current inventory of
Roberts Cemetery near Troy. Skye has sent a partial file to the
archives, with more names to come. Additonally, she has also updated
the Killeen Memorial Cemetery inventory also in progress. Both partial
files can be found in our digital cemetery archives:

Does anyone have a list of the cemeteries on Fort Hood, and those that are
still buried there? I found my gggrandfather Robert Carr and family living
north of the railroad that goes through Killeen in 1900. He died about 1908.
We cannot find a location for his grave. Any help would be appreciated.

Joe, my William M. Peppers/Eveline Kincheloe, first white settlers on
"Peppers Creek" in Belton came from TN. He was b. 1817, ?, TN. Eveline was
b. in Blount Co AL in 1822, (I think, I do not have it here before me). The
Burns family settled on Peppers Creek later and they came from Shelbyville,
Shelby Co.
Do you know of any records of the folks that traveled to Bell Co, TX from TN
by way of Benton or Washington Co. ARK prior to 1840? Peppers's dau, Mary
Jane was b. in ARK in 1841.
Thanks,
Dori
Thought this might be of interest to someone on the list. I just
saw an offering on ebay of a "funeral book" from a Belton funeral
in 1932. While some parts of the book are missing, apparently
some of the sympathy cards and other items are still there. I've
sent email to the seller asking whose funeral this was, but
thought some of you might want to check it out just in case.

Hello Jackie!
Faye Dillard is her name. As I explained even though she does not have
email or a home phone recorder, you can't go wrong in hiring this researcher.
She is absolutely the best I have ever had,she is from the old school and
maybe you know what that means? If she has a line and you have to
wait...it is worth the wait!

Faye Dillard is very well known at the County Clerks office in Bell County. I am trying to find out if Faye is one of my Dillards. I sure wish she had email. I am going to have to break down and write her a real letter to find out. :)

The Cloud family members profiled in the book are Allen Clark Cloud, Jack Medlin Cloud and Thomas Jefferson Cloud. Thomas Jefferson is the one who owned the Lumber yard. He was born in 1894. He was born in Killeen in 1894. Jack Medlin Cloud is profiled but he wasn't born until 1915. His son Allen Clark Cloud was the son of Jack. The Cloud and Medlin families were both pioneer families of the Killeen area. I am related indirectly to the Medlins. They were prominent in the Nolan Valley area as well.
Thanks to Dana Kutej for her recent grave photo uploads. More photos

Dana has also submitted additional photos for the Dyess Cemetery down

Does anyone know the name of the family who owned the gin in
Rogers, Texas in 1930? A cousin who was there at that time
remembers it was painted red and built out of wood, which was
unusual as gins were usually built out of tin.
We think the wife of the gin's owner was Lilly (Cloud) Clary,
which would mean his name was CLARY / CLAREY.
