You didn't say what you have and haven't done ....
So, here are some suggestions:
1. Try tracking this family in each 10-year Federal Census
2. Get the probate records of Judge Crews & his wife and this adopted child.
3. Get the land records of the Crews family
4. Get the death

Hi Listers: I tried to search the sites we all once used for searching TX Birth, Death and Marriage Indexes and found now that we have to pay a "premium fee" to Net Detective who is an "affiliate of Ancestry.com". They say the Birth Index does have a "free" search but when one does it, you can only put in the surname and you get every person with that surname born from 1926 to 1997 which in the surname I used was over 32,000 people and it will not allow you to definitize whatsoever!
