At 12:14 AM 7/4/99 -0500, you wrote: >... FLAGS are not on the FIELD LIST so you can not enter the >contents of a flag field in a report. Interesting. I just checked 3.0 and they are not there, either. I had been told that an effort was made for 3.0 to make sure that all fields were covered in the list reports. The event flags ARE included in the event list report menu. Dick
2. [UFT-L] Ged.Com & Backup [1]
I am back for some of your expert advise. I have two questions today. 1. When I do a ged.com, why doest the double spaces between paragraphs of text disappear? 2. Just did a back-up, it asked for a second disk which I inserted; when I came back to the computer it appears it is complete. There is however no message on the screen to indicate it is. Is this normal or do I have an incomplete backup? Gloria Wisconsin

Bob wrote: Teresa, Have you set the paper for banner paper? You may have to see if there is a custom paper setting for your printer. Does this chart have a printer setup screen? I know that the FJ doesn't but a fan chart does in 2.9. Sometimes when I forget to change my mailing label program to my custom tractor feed label I get one to print and then goes 10 or so to start another one. Like it had 8.5x11 paper. A bit of a job. But I wonder if UFT can handle banner paper. Bob Strock I write back:
4. [UFT-L] Ancestor Box chart [1]
I am trying to print an ancestor box chart on continuous feed paper. I have it set for 7 generations on 8x8 boxes. So I only have one sheet deep. As soon as the first sheet finishes, it form feeds about 3 sheets. I would like for it to print page two right next to page 1. I am using the wall chart and have it set to print in landscape mode with margins of .300. I am using letter for my paper size. Does anyone know how to get it to print one page after another? I am using banner paper, so I won
5. [UFT-L] Backup/restore [1]
>How can I verify that >my backup is good before installing the new version, in the event that >something were to go wrong, and I had to do a restore? The best way is to actually go through the restore process. Perhaps rename your UFT directory and restore from the backup. Then start UFT & verify your data. However, before doing this and as a standard policy you should have more than one method for creating, storing, & restoring backups. In addition to the built-in UFT backup you might make a copy of y
6. RE: [UFT-L] Arlene at NGS [1]
Thanks, Brian: I'd really like to know what's causing the pedigree chart reports to print the way they do. It sure is a puzzler and I was hoping I'd have an answer by now. By the way, WHEN I get the upgrade to 3.0 (I never even got a notice that 3.0 was ready for ordering), do you think it will solve the problem or should I just wait for Blue to respond? Thanks again, and I really do appreciate all that some individuals do to help those of us who wish we were as "smart" as you. Arlene L. Brown Ackerman
7. [UFT-L] Re: UFT 3.0? [1]
Okay -- Now I know it's not 3.0 -- can anyone tell me if it's 2.9, and eligible for the free 3.0 upgrade??? Who knows when Best Buy will get 3.0 in.....again --- the # on the box is PAL-B-10138A... 8. Re: [UFT-L] Ancestor Box chart [1]
Bob, I tried setting the printer to use tablet paper, but I get the same problem. And an error stating that the paper is jammed. I think the problem is with my HP Deskjet 672. Looks like I will be reading the manual during the storm that seems to be blowing up. Teresa
9. [UFT-L] Text Format [1]
Dick, Just went back and double checked. My original file which I backup has all the paragraph breaks and indents on it. The test of my backup does not. Is there something I could have set wrong, in getting ready to backup that is causing the problem. Gloria

I just today purchased UFT Deluxe v3.0 and had the same question about the two rebates. I just now tried peeling back the purple sticker on the package...there is the rebate form! Bob, Most of my evidence has been imported from RootsIII. I will do what you suggested anyway. Please let me know when you figure out how to fix the redundant text. I would say that probably the marjority of users do not mess around with the numbers assigned by the program. Out of curiousity, why would you want to reuse them? Paul L. 15. Re: [UFT-L] Re: Uploading [1]
Mine appeared to be uploading too, but nothing ever happened. I discovered a log file gets generated in UFT/HTLM/NameOfPage/pdftp.log When I looked at the log file I was getting a time out message. It was just appearing and disappearing so fast I didn't see it while actually doing the load. I'm using 3.0 too. I have a query into Tech Support. If I found a resolution, I will post it. 16. Re: [UFT-L] Ancestor Box chart [1]
Teresa, A4 and A5 are paper sizes used in other places other that the USA. A4 is not as wide but a bit longer than our 8.5x11. I see that 2.9 has a place to select Wall Chart and under "Page" does have paper sizes but none for banner. The C, D, and E sheets are sizes for drafting paper. One thing you might try is to set the margins to zero. At least the top and bottom. Bob Strock Cheasa@aol.com wrote: > > Bob wrote: > Teresa, Have you set the paper for banner paper? 19. Re: [UFT-L] RE:Free Upgrade [1]
No no no. Please wait. We've got a few lists of those who should receive UFT 3.0 for free and are having those lists entered into the order system. How quickly you receive the free upgrade will depend upon the list you are on. Please give us a few more weeks to get all of the lists and orders processed. 20. Re: [UFT-L] I can't print out reports!! [1]
I'm trying to print a report, any report for anyone in any of my projects. I go to Report, I select the kind i.e. indented descendant, I click on Print----just as I have always done----it collects the descendants, I get the message that the title is centered on the first page, and then---------------------nothing! The printer doesn't print out my report. Could I have told this darn computer to print to anything, any other place. For years I've been successfully doing this, but after fooling around w

22. [UFT-L] Married; when obviously NOT [1]
Dear Friends, Is there something to do in UFT, with people that are not married?? I am using V3.0; although you could say I have somewhat of a problem with it!!!!! When I first started using Roots/M etc. I entered people as married, that were not and made a note to that effect! Is there a better way to do this!!?? I recently saw a Report, (don't know what program it was), that listed some people as "MET"! John "met" Sally. Do we have something like that?? Maybe Better!!?? Regards, Clinton clintle
23. Re: [UFT-L] Married; when obviously NOT [1]
If you know for sure that they were never married, (as my brother with CP) then use the unmarried event. If they just had kids, and didn't get married, I just attach them both to the birth event of the kids but not to any event related to each other. I guess you could make a "MET" event if you wanted to. Teresa
24. RE: [UFT-L] Arlene at NGS [1]
Thanks, Rhonda: I'm using Version 2.9; have been upgrading all along to the latest version I could get my hands on. The problem still persists. Don't know what else I can tell you - I'm no "techie." However, it seems to me that if we report a problem, it really shouldn't take months to get an answer back - even if it is an answer we don't really want to hear. 'Nuff said. I look forward, eagerly even, to getting some reply - positive or negative. I'd like it to be a resolution as I'm getting tired of
25. [UFT-L] Printing Images with different sizes [1]
Hello, I have just upgraded from 2.8 to 3.0 UFT and I dare to say that I have not had any problems that have been mentioned on this bb - I will not let my other PC know about that. Now for my question: I have a lot of images in my system (300) and they print out with the report with no problems. I have portrate images which print out at an exceptable size on the print out but I also have census records which become unreadable at the standard image print out size. How do I get selected images to print ou
