I am looking for any of the Howell Men who were British Loyalists in the
Kings Orange Rangers.
Mathew born in Upper Canada abt. 1798 was my GGGFather.
His dad is in question. I believe it is probably William who had a brother
John who went to Meigs Co. OH together. I do not know the dates of birth or
the wives but I feel that there were several.
Any information or clues on how to get any information is appreciated.

Hello
This is my first posting to the list although I have been lurking for a
while!
I am trying to find information regarding Robert EVANS (b. abt. 1892
somewhere in England) who was a Dr Barnardos child in the late 1800s.
At some point he emigrated to Canada. There is a rumour that his
sister's husband Robert KING had a brother already living in there.
I found this information about him on the Commonwealth War Graves
Commission site

Hello fellow-listers:
I am seeking any information pertaining to the family of Christopher and
Frances CULP, who migrated from Lancaster County, PA, in /or about 1790, to
resettle at Lincoln County, southern Ontario, Upper Canada (now Ontario),
Canada.
Would you have any information on their family??
(i) Christopher CULP was born about 1747, possibly in Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania and he died December 19, 1833, at Clinton Township, Lincoln
County, Canada West (now Ontario), Canada.

Hi List,
I am looking for records of Henry John BURKE, my Great-Great
Grandfather. He was a native of County Leitrim, Ireland, immigrating
to what was then known as Upper Canada Province, Canada. He
settled on a farm, near the town of Richmond, in Marlborough Twp.,
Carleton Co. Ontario, Canada. The earliest confirmed date that I have
found for him, is from an 1851 census in which his age at next
birthday is 56. This would put his birth year about 1794/95. His first
wife's name is unkn
I've just read this reply and I feel as if I've just attended a superb
seminar on creatively searching early Ontario records. Just wonderful and
special thanks to Lorine.

Ron, you have managed to confuse not only the South with the North, but
now the West with the East as well. From Show Bird to Snow Bird, and
from Memorial Day to Jean-Baptiste Day in big "Q", which my friend, is

Ontario sure did not make you an expert, but you sure do contribute to

Charles BROAD and his wife Mary arrived in Upper Canada from Cornwall in
1836 and settled near Columbus (Darlington Township, Durham County). Their
daughter Lavina BROAD (c1825-1908) married William BURR, probably son of
neighbour James and Hannah BURR.
Any relatives or other interesting historical facts about the area? For
example, in the 1851 census we found a fascinating Agricultural return on
these families, describing how many acres were cultivated or were kept for
pasture, the number of cows or pigs,

That's even better than my map reading. I found all the other sites on the
topographical map I have of the Ottawa area, but could not find Christieville until
Lorines clues. Christieville is on the border of Argenteuil and Terrebonne counties,
about 4 km east of Morin Heights and 5 km west of St.-Sauveur-des-Monts. Arundel is
about 32 km west on the same road.
The area is quite rugged, there are hills and valleys all around the area. It is
quite close to the ski areas north of Montreal.

Thanks again to everybody.
