Hi. I'm hoping someone out there can help me or at least point me in the right direction.
My 2nd great grandfather (does that mean gr-gr grandf.?) is Michael Laramie. He was born bet. 1836-1842 in Canada, and died 25 Mar 1922 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. His wife's name was Harriet Plant. Here is my problem:
Some of the documents/sources I've seen say he was born in "Upper Canada", some say "Lower Canada", and one even says "French Canada". I cannot find him anytime before 1870. I know he lived most of

I may be posting on the wrong list but here goes anyway.
Would anyone know where the townships of: Nassagaweya ; Nelson & Esquesing Twps may have been located in the years of 1861 and 1871? I am thinking perhaps these twps no longer exist.
Perhaps there are maps online that might help me with this?
Thank you so much.
Joyce
Along with Trafalgar Township, they are in Halton County. It is now Halton
Region.

Hello everyone,
I am trying to trace my gg-grandmother, Eliza or Elizabeth Mason. She
was born around 1813 in Upper Canada. Her father was Captain James
Mason, b. in England, mother unknown. Eliza married Robert Thompson (b.
ca 1797 in Ireland) sometime in the early 1830s, and the earliest I can
find them is in the 1840 Head of Household Census of the Township of
Cramahe in Northumberland County, with their three oldest daughters. I
would like to know where they were located before they came to Cramah

My gggrandfather Robert "Red Robin" Johnston settled in what is now N. Plantagenet Twp., Prescott Co., ON, ca. 1832. His farm was the second one due north of Pendleton. He married Mary "May" Frances McQueen in 1833.
While going through the Ontario Death Index last month I picked up on another Johnston family which had previously escaped my eyes. The early records for Plantagenet Twps. are often non-existant so it's easy to understand how this could happen.
The Johnston in question is Jane Johnston, b

I found all three of them on both sites.

Cliff,
A widow Jane Johnston died in Vienna, Elgin County, on 10 July 1912.
According to her death registration (ancestry.ca) she was born 23 November
1827 in Nova Scotia. Her father was a Thornthwaite, no first name, born in
England. So I think you can eliminate the Jane of the 1911 census (Elgin
East) as the Jane born in N. Plantagenet. Elgin County is on Lake Erie,
south of London, Ontario.
A bit of negative information!

My mother's family were the only Ingleharts in Nelson Township, Halton

I got a copy of the 1851 Directory of Canada. While browsing I came across
travel schedules out of Toronto. I was really impressed knowing how bad the
overland travel could be. I will transcribe so please forgive typos.
Interesting to note the way of showing the times of departure. Also to know that
in 1851 they made it possible to go "bar hopping".

This includes some folks that I'm researching -- the KRIBS, ALMAS and
HOTRUMs . . .
Can anyone explain to me exactly what is a "Bargain and Sale"?
And in this instance why are so many individuals named in this land
transaction? Could they all have had a part interest in this 100
acre lot?
Cheers, -- Dave

I have a few other land records involving your folks. As
time permits I will post the names and locations here.
Almost all of them have something to do with my PEER line
that I am researching. In this case (the B&S below) I
forgot to say that Levi Peer was another witness.
There is not much of an explanation in the record itself
other than the names of the one "party" (all the names
below) selling the land to the other "party" (Mathias
Lampman).
Then follows a lengthy description of the land itse

If you want the site on Bernardo Homes themselves - goggle Bernardo and it
comes up. If you want a listing of the children sent to Canada by Bernardo
you can check Perry Snow's site (sorry can't remember the url) but goggling
Perry Snow will get you to it. He has an extensive list of home children
sent here from all the homes. Also a listing on CollectionCanada which is a
good starting point.
