Does anyone on this list have a working knowledge of the availability of passenger lists for immigrants entering the Port of Providence, RI - for the year 1878? I have checked NARA and the Family Search website of the LDS FHL, but have been unable to find even the images, let alone indexes, for that year. Was the port closed to the public during this period? Was there normal traffic, but the lists were lost or damaged? If the first reason is correct, where did most of the immigrants residing in Providen
I'm brand new to researching the Irish famine immigration, so I have a
couple of real beginners' questions. I'm interested in the Atalanta, which
docked in New York from Liverpool on May 13, 1850. Specifically, six of the
passengers: Ann (25 y.o.a.), Ann (2), Bernard (30), Garrett (16), John (9
months) and William (9 months) Murtagh.
I've checked all the sources that one stumbles on when you don't really know
what you're doing, such as "New York Port Arrival Records, 1846-1851," and

I hope the holidays were terrific for all. I have just
finished putting online a set of records for all to enjoy.
It is a list of vessels sailing out of Gloucester
Massachusetts, and their crews who were lost at sea
between the years 1830 to October 1, 1873.
There are 1437 names of those lost, plus the names of 296
Vessels in this set of records. Sometimes passengers were
on board, as well as crew members
Olive Tree Volunteers have finished up to 1860 so I have
