In 1961 husband and I lived in a rental house on N. Scott Street,
Wilmington Delaware. The woman who owned it was named JOSEPHINE RAU
FOX, living at 1820 Scott. She was quite old at the time. There were
four sisters living on the same block and at one time owned the whole
block. They told me that their father, MR. RAU built the whole block.
I got the impression that he might have worked at the duPont powder
mills also. The sisters were named Jane Bier (Beer?) and Josephine.

Carl MICK is listed with a page of other single men (no famillies mentioned or referenced), all farmers from Germany (some Hesse, some Baden - his place of origin as well).
What I am looking for is some information on the ship itself. I cannot find any description and/or history on the John Curtis. Can anyone help with either in

Maybe they went to Phila. before they settled in NJ since a friend found
these names at a
Phila. church in 1885 plus the name Johann RAU (maybe an unknown brother
since
their 1st child was named Johann)?
They married in NJ 1889.
The census also said he was Natura
Robert Taylor Co. of Philadelphia acted as an agent to accept payment for passage of immigrants by persons already in America. Robert Taylor then contracted with a ship company for the desired trip. The process was called "engaging" the ship company.
One ship line with whom Robert Taylor & Co. contracted was the William McCorkell & Company Line of Londonderry, Ireland. My immigrant ancestors, John & William Martin, came on the McCorkle ship "Stadacona" into New York in 1865.
Do you know where I might
