2. Re: [US-SHIPSLISTS-POST1820] SHIP THAMES [1]
Hello Sue, The only thing so far that I can find was the SHIP THAMES arriving in Philadelphia from London in 1832. As far as I can gather it was a passenger ship but don't know if it was a steamer. I have a friend that lives in WellSend, England right on the Thames River. I will email her and ask if she may get some information about this ship for me. I haven't gone through all the pages that I have found on google. I did go through the ships transcribers guild did not find much. I will email her tom
3. [US-SHIPSLISTS-POST1820] SHIP THAMES [1]
I have been unable to find a description of the Ship Thames. An ancestor arrived in the US from England on this ship in 1820. Any help determining what type of ship the Thames would have been would be appreciated. I do have the ship's passenger list, but that does not indicate the type of ship. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
4. [US-SHIPSLISTS-POST1820] Information on Ben and Eliza Adkins, from England in 1873 [1]
According to the 1880 and 1900 MS census, my gr grandparents arrived in the US in 1873, and after landing in New Orleans, they made their way up river and settled in Utica, Hinds Co., MS. They came from England and began the voyage with twins and we think one of the twins died enroute. I have not been able to find a passenger lists with them on it. There names were Benjamin Colledge Adkins and Mary Eliza Evans Adkins. I would appreciate any help in trying to find information on my gr grandparents.
5. Re: [US-SHIPSLISTS-POST1820] SHIP THAMES [1]
Hello Sue, The only thing I could find on The SHIP THAMES in 1820 that it was a slave ship. I went into google and put in Ship Thames 1820 and that is what I found. You may want to try that too and see if it is correct. Would you be willing to give me the name of the passenger and maybe I can help look further for you. 6. [US-SHIPSLISTS-POST1820] Robert Taylor & Co. Engager for Irish Immigrants [1]
Do you know where I might find a list of the persons who engaged the McCorkle Lines in 1865 for passage of Irish persons traveling to America? In the 1800s, a company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, "Robert Taylor & Co.", provided a service arranging ship's passage for Irish Immigrants to America. The process was called "engaging" the shipping line. The procedure was for some person in America to pay the fare [to Robert Taylor & Co.] to allow someone in Ireland [possibly a relative] to travel
