I located a Robert Johnston age 16 and an Agnes Murray age 10 both

north?

Hi Stubby,
Good evening!
It's been awhile and since things are getting a little bit colder time to dig
into the ancestors again.
You had found information on the ship they had sailed
The ages of Robert and Agnes seem quite a bit younger than what we have thought, but I am not certain that the information I have is accurate. I will keep this in the file and see if it ties in eventually. I haven't heard of any indication of arrival further south than Philadelphia, but it is possible they did arrive there and migrated north. I appreciate your help.

Hi Beth,
I'm sorry I don't know. By all accounts it was 'done for' from what Stubby found and was ready to sell it off. So it would seem it's hayday was over.?So it could have been, any reason???:)
I was extremely lucky Stubby found the ship as I had not, and written so many maritime museums here in the states as well as england and Holland. No one heard of it!..Nobody until Stubby! I am so greatful for his find in time!
But anyway, do you have any more information on the ship or if additional records
Good morning, Florence --
I, too, will be away for a short time -- Nov 7 - 11, but want to respond
before then.
My Johnston family (as far as I know) has retained the Johnston spelling and
seem to have remained in the Washington County area.
The information I have about Robert and Agnes(Murray) and Agnes' brother
George, who is said to have come to Philadelphia with Robert and Agnes is
taken from a booklet entitled, "A Brief History of the Descendants of Robert
and Agnes Johnston. It was printed by
No records etc, just the name Frederick Buckle migrated from Germany to Philadelphia in 1749 on the Jacob.?
"Friederick Buckel and Johann Baumann along with others from Wirtemberg, Swabia, and Darmstadt on ship "Jacob" with Capt. Adolph de Grove from Amsterdam, last from Shields, Eng. on Oct. 2, 1749 arr. in PA ."
Just trying to figure out is this is our Frederick Buck, 5 g grandfather.
I figured if I knew more about the Jacob.....????? A clue to what????

Patricia, would you be willing to look for Robert Johnston coming from
Ireland (originating in Antrim) and ending up in Western Pennsylvania. He
is believed to have spent a year in Philadelphia where a son George was born
in 1779. He traveled with his wife Agnes (Murray) and her brother George
Murray. I don't know if there were any others traveling with them, but I've
heard mention of a Joseph Murray who I believe settled in the Washington
County, PA area. The family legend says that they arrived
I am looking for anything about the coming of Robert Johnston and wife Agnes Murray, along with her brother George Murray, when they came to American prior to 1779. Legend has it that they came no more than a year prior to that time and settled for a short time in Philadelphia and then moved on to Western Pennsylvania. Their first son, George, was born in Philadelphia and was about nine months old when they left Philadelphia. However, when speaking of how long prior to leaving Philly they came to America,
Hi Stubby,
Good evening!
It's been awhile and since things are getting a little bit colder time to dig into the ancestors again.
You had found information on the ship they had sailed on "the Jacob" 9 (below). Since then I believe I have found Casper Ross and Gerrit Ross' parents in Amsterdam but looking for any other documents to be sure. You know how it goes.
Can you tell me are there other?records from the ship available besides passengers lists, that would help me to know a little more about this
Dear Virginia,
My name is Florence Johnston Jester and I do have Ancestry and would be
happy to do some look ups for you as I have much the same brick wall re my
Johnston family-- my great grandfather, John Johnston, was born in Washington
County, PA-later went on to Ohio and then to Iowa where he is now buried. We have
been searching for many years to find exactly which Johnston family in
Washington County was his (if any). (He was born in 1817). According to the 1880
census, his mother wa
I am looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack, but -- Robert Johnston came to America prior to 1770 from Antrim, Ireland. It is believed he had previously married Agnes Murray, that they came as a married couple and that their son George was born in Philadelphia in 1770. When George was less than a year old, they moved west to Washington County, PA. I would appreciate any information which would help in the search for this couple. Agnes' brother George Murray traveled with them.
Thank you.
