David,
Bridgett made it very clear that she was giving an
extreme example and not comparing Linda to
Hitler. Why does everything about this project
have to be deliberately misunderstood and
misrepresented.

This was the final amendment message in its entirety... I
should have added that you must have missed it, I didn't
mean to suggest that you would misrepresent the motion. I
apologize for not making myself clear. I do appreciate you
bringing this discussion to this list.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim, you're my regional representative and I support your motion to appoint
Linda, in fact, I see no reasonable cause for the delay. The Tombstone
Project presented her name as their choice as I understand it and there is
no just cause to not approve it.

The Tombstone Transcription Project was represented by Pam Reid until Sat,
30 Jan 1999, when she announced her resignation. Linda Lewis was chosen as
the representative for the Tombstone Project and placed on the BOARD-L
list, and voted on Wed, 17 Feb 1999, on Motion #99-2, and on 27 Feb 1999 on
Motion #99-3.
On Sat, 20 Mar 1999, the NC wrote to BOARD-L:

Dear Bridgett, Jim and Yvonne,
I request that you vote "YES" on the motion to appoint Linda

Bridgett,
My no vote had nothing to do with the two
personalities involved in terms of my nay vote.
My nay vote was based solely on the fact that
Linda is absolutely not able to compromise in any
manner. The very fact that she feel strongly
about the project is not sufficient in my opinion
to allow anyone on the board who will make no
concessions to anyone else. I agree that the
people of the tombstone project may want her as a
representative but those of us in the Census
Project see nothing but more pro
Actually, due to discussion on this motion, I amended it
once again to remove the second appointment, but requested
that we pick up motion 99-7 from the table upon the
completion of this vote. 99-7 was a motion to appoint Joe
as the Representative for the Archives Project.

Sounds like a good idea to me!! I do have one question though... In regard
to the following...

If you don't want her on the board, vote against her.
Simple as that. It doesn't matter what WE want.

Linda,
My vote was AYE, to abide by the wishes of the Tombstone Project and accept the
representative of their choice.
Another vote will be coming up soon, for the Archive Representive to replace Jan
Craven. I will then too, vote to abide by the wishes of the Archives Project and
accept the representative of their choice.
Linda and all:
If you agree to this reasoning, I suggest you contact your region's
representatives and let them know how you feel about this matter,
well in advance of the motion and
Hi Jim,
I appreciate your openness with us. It helps to see where people are coming
from. Too often I don't have enough information to make an intelligent
decision.
I have been only involved with my own Lake Co. Fla. page for a year or so.
The people who have been working for years are still foreigners to me.
How can I get to know them if they don't take the time to let us see their
thoughts?
I wish others would just state their personal feelings and not get into what
someone else thinks. T
Well... I made the motion, and honestly, I have gone back
and forth with this issue myself. Linda has done and said a
few things that don't fit in too well with the way I would
do things, but I for one, still value her ideas and
opinions, even when those opinions oppose my opinions. Some
of those actions have been compared to "thumbing her nose at
the Board". I can see where one could come to that
conclusion. I have been there, thought that. I can also
see reasons to think that she believes that she is

I would like to take this time to apologize for those I represent in the
South East/Mid-Atlantic Region.
I did not vote for/against/abstain on Motion 99-8 due to several
problems, one of which is that I have been sick (bronchitis and
running a 101 temp). Time slipped past and before I knew it, there
was a message indicating that the time period was over with. My
lack of voting was not an intentional one.

That's it. I can't take this kind of thing any longer. I have just
resigned as CC for Camden County, NC, my only remaining county, effective
immediately. Please remove me from this mailing list. If y'all ever figure
out how to organize and run something without all this
backbiting/backstabbing, I'd love to come and play again, but this is not
what I signed on for.

Jim,
I didn't see any other amendment, if I am wrong could you forward
