Thanks again to all who helped in my search for the Monacan Indian Cemetery. I live in NH so am extremely limited for time when I travel to the state. With few town markings I have wasted so much time. Some of the sites that came from your suggested links have been incredable sources of information.

Does anyone know where to find the Monacan Indian Cemetery on Bear Mt. in VA? This might also be called the Skyline Drive area. The towns are not marked and it is difficult to even find route numbers. Can anyone give directions?

Terri,
In doing a google search, one hit came up and
this is the url it gave:
http://www.blackwatercreek.org/baldeagleisland/bethel.htm
I do not see directions per say to the cemetery
however the writer is calling it Amherst County Vault
Hill Cemetery.
The article also says,"High up on the bluff known as
Vault Hill is a Monacan Indian Cemetery next to the
old Davies Cemetery."
This is a good article and speaks of a town called
Bethel (Salt Creek).
Hope this helps. If you do find directions or a list
of
Thanks Deane!

Hello,
I suggest you contact The News and Advance, the
Lynchburg, VA newspaper. They write articles from
time to time about the Monacans. If my memory serves
me right their United Methodist Church is next to the
Monacan Museum. Beautiful country for a Sunday drive
btw. Also no doubt you could go through the Va state
webpage. Sorry I can't help with the directions. We
found it on one of our wanderings, needless to say
before gasoline went out of sight.
