Lisa, In the "History of Bland County on page 399 under the heading "History of Postal Service in Bland County", "The first Post Office in what is now Bland County was established at Mechanicsburg on March 28, 1837 while still a part of Giles County. Daniel Hoge served as the first postmaster." On page 400 (still under the same heading), "Mechanicsburg, already mentioned, was established March 28, 1837. After Daniel Hoge came George G. Hoge, Lee C. Brown, Thomas Jackson, Mrs. Virginia Thornton, Isaac J.

Hello All, The lists I have are for the following Bland County cemeteries: Central Church, Hoge-Harman, Hoge's Chapel, Mechanicsburg, Miller, Mustard (Rt. 42), Miller, Rt. 640), Newberry, Robinette and Walkers Little Creek. I acquired this list from the Bland courthouse about 1995. I would be happy to check for your ancestors. Pam

Hi Jo Ann They had several sons who are: Amasa A. ; James A.; Joseph Spangler. : Sidney Hoge: (my gr. grandfather) ; Peter Albert (the one whose mother's name appears as Mary Musser on the marriage licence in 1899); their girls were Eliza; Levina A.: and Sydna Eugenia Tibbs. I would like to find some info. on my gr. gr. grandfather's death. At the time they were livng in Ceres, Bland County. My cousin believes George died in 1886; the last record I have of him is in the 1880 census of Bland County.

The only date I have for them is that one of their children was born in 1870 and she married in 1889. I'm keeping my fingers crossed... Are there any of you out there working on or related through the line of George Monroe Tibbs. I need help on his death date. The last I know of him was in the 1880 Bland County census. I am lead to believe that his wife Mary Lindamood Tibbs re-married after his death. She is listed on one of her son's marriage license in 1899 as Mary Musser. Any clues, help, information would greatly be appreciated. Janet

hi, i was wondering if maybe you would have information on my grandparents and mother, i am trying to find the conection between my mother almetta/almeda cregger and robert r. cregger my grandfather, as i belive that she was not his true daughter, i have searched for a birth record for her and also for grandpa. i can find nothing on either of them. my gr grandpa was supposed to be ely cregger, married to a may thompson. but i cant find that either. my mother told me before she died that she was not a cregge
