cordially invite you to the unveiling and dedication of a new Virginia
Department of Historic Resources historic highway marker commemorating
the site of Alexandria's 1864-1869 Freedmen's Cemetery. Generous

Seeking further information about William A. (Allen?) Da(i)ngerfield, born 13 Oct 1769, in Alexandria about 1800, died 19 Oct. 1821 in Prince George's Co., MD. My information is that he was a physician trianed in Edinburgh and served as a colonel in the War of 1812. Is he a son of William Daingerfield of "Belvidera" in Spotsylvania Co. and William wife, Sarah Taliaferro? Is he brother to Bathurst Daingerfield, who apparently lived in Alexandria? Does anyone know who William A.'s wife and children were?

Hi
I need to find the death certificate # for a Joshua B. Thompson who was
killed by or on a train on OCTOBER 3, 1873 in Clover, Va.
Is there anyone who would kindly look him up on death index for me. I do not
live in VA. I do not need any copy, just the certificate #.
Also, what newspaper would have carried such a story at that time?
Thank you
Marie

ancestor Anthony Brenner, 7, was living in the household.

Does anyone know where I might locate coroner records prior to the early
1940s? My grandfather, William J. Lewis, committed suicide in 1939, so
there is a coroner's report on his death. Unfortunately, I have been unable
to locate the records.
I spoke with someone at the Medical Examiner's office in Alexandria, and
they said old records would be kept at the Richmond office.
I called the Richmond Medical Examiner's office, and they said that they
were established in the early 1940s and have no records bef

I am not aware of any comprehensive source of coroner's reports. The
obvious place to look is the Library of Virginia. They have a few
Alexandria inquests, at least, but none that I am aware of as late as the
twentieth century.

I wonder if newspaper obits [such as the Alexandria Gazette] would lend
clues to where the coroner's report can be found? Or, maybe the funeral
