Hi, I just saw that someone on the Pulaski County mailing list has a list of people who died from the flu epidemic in 1919 for Pulaski County. Cynthia Minter, b. abt 1809 in VA, m. Joshua Worrell in 1827. Grayson Co. Isham Spence was surety. Ceremony performed by Rev. John Cock. John Perry Alderman (1850 Census: Annotated, Carroll Co. VA) says that Cynthia was raised by Isham and Nancy Spence. He speculates that Nancy Spence's maiden name was Minter. Spence family tradition dictates that Nancy was a Redpath, a Native American lady. Joshua and Cynthia seem to have named children after the Spence and Worrell families. Does anyone on this list know

My gr grandfather, Hamlin R. COLLINS, was born in 1805. I can trace a Hamlin COLLINS to Brunswick Co, Maherin Parish, in 1830 with a family. In 1840 I think this family moved to Halifax Co NC. I cannot trace them in 1850. Hamlin R. COLLINS married Rebecca POWERS in July 1856 in Halifax Co. NC. My grandfather would have been about 50 years old & men usually didn't wait that long to marry for the first time! Well, children you are doing me proud. I now who Etta's mommy and daddy were as well as most if not all of her siblings. I also know when she and Uncle Peter Dickerson were married Her daddy was Levi Burden Payne and her mommy was Sena Phillips. Her siblings were Myrtle L, Flora N, Stella G and John H. I was recently in Salt Lake City looking for the parents of James A. Edwards b. June 7, 1830 in Hillsville and Willard Cain from Utah filed a family group sheet referring to a bible in which Thomas Edwards is identified as his father. Does anyone know of the Edwards/Cain Bible? James A. Edwards and Mary Polly Williams Edwards' daughter Sarilda married Reuben Schuyler Colfax CAIN from Cap VA on December 19, 1894. Hope to hear from someone on this list before long.
