Thanks for the help. I guess I lived in Los Angeles too long, and thus assumed an immovable bureaucracy. Called the Virginia Room, and they were extremely helpful and flexible! The problem is solved.

Hello,
I am new to the list, and I have a request. There was a wedding August 24,
2002 in Fairfax at the "Gunston Hall", I just learned that it was a cousin
and I hope the article could lead me to some lost family members.
My question to the list...has any one seen or still have a newspaper
article of the wedding? It was Chris and Sandra ANTHONY, I would love to have
an actual article, here in Ohio you can still buy old newspapers of the week
gone by. Is it this way in Virgina? If no one can he
Hello,
I checked the 1920 census index for Fairfax and came up with the following:
Horton, William H Age: 26 Year 1920 Birthplace: Virginia
Roll:
T625_1886 Race: White Page: 9B State: Virginia ED:
36 County: Fairfax Image: 419 Township: Mount Vemon
Line 69:
William H HORTON - head age 26 b. Virginia - father b. NY mother b NJ
occupation: Night Watchman - Mount Vernon
Wife: Anniel L age 21 b. Virginia father Va mother VA
William m S age
It looks that way! I had just seen NJ on the census with WIlliam S family.
He may just not have known where his father was really born~~who knows!
But this is definetly a good start!!!!
Definetly more than I had to start with! And a sibling to add to WIlliam!
:)

Fairfax County is very fortunate to have a comprehensive newspaper index
available online that covers most of the 20th century. Go to
http://www.co.fairfax.va.us/library/newsindex/default.asp to search for your
Hortons. Once you find a reference, the staff in the Virginia Room will
print from the microfilm and mail it to you.
