Hi,
I just posted an old stockholders' announcement run by William PATON, Jr., of Alexandria, Virginia. This was scanned from an original issue (NOT microfilm!) of the Alexandria Herald (VA) newspaper dated November 19, 1813, and you can see it online here:

Gosh, I don't know. I would have thought he would have married sooner than
that but let me check this out. Do you have any other earlier marriages for
any John Mattingly or derivatives of this name?
Thanks so very much for your response.

Hi Barbara,
Ancestry.com had quite a few references to a Levin Powell. Not sure if this
pertains to your ancestor or not:

My ancestors "Lady"Ann(Howard)& Wm.Tunnel(b,1702-or 03 in France settled in
!755 in Fairfax Co.Va.@ 15 miles east of Herndon,Va.They had four known sons
(ALL Ministers)Robert/Wm.(b.1751-my 4th G.Grandpa)/Stephen Sr.and John
Tunnell BUT most likely the had 7 kids born between 1731 to 1747 & I CAN'T find
even ONE of these seven !! I take that back !I I honestly believe I found the
8th missing kid am almost positive I have found their youngest daughter ! Her
name is Elizabeth Tunnell(b.@1754 OR 1
Greetings:
Now you have my attention as the mention of Catherine BUCKLEY.
There was a Catherine Buckley who married Elisha Jenkins as a 3rd wife bet
1828-1830. No issue. Elisha Jenkins died. This Catherine Buckley was born
about 1790 or so and a d/o Joshua Buckley.
Have another Catherine Buckely born about same time d/o John Fryer Buckley d.
1802. Lots of brick walls on this group. Both Catherine Buckleys had a
brother named John.
Hi Pat !!
I "KNEW" that it was sometimes copied as TURNEL but I wasn't looking for
that spelling this time .
This Wm.Tunnell was born in 1702-03 in France unless he is the son
Wm.(b,1751)who is my 4th G.Grandpa !l-Stephen Tunnell(TURNEL)would be Sr.'s son b.1753
in Fredericksburg,Va.This is where Sr.lived untill 1755.
Now I woild like 2 more favors !!
See if "Lady"Ann(Howard)Tunnel's(
TURNEL) name pops up anywhere.
Wilma, I learned of a new research URL: The website is
http://www.gencircles.com/
This site has the Tunnell surname on it and you might get some new info.

My husband is related (some cousin x removed) to William and Ann Tunnell
through their son, Stephen (that's the only child's name I have). I'll send

I sympathize with you as I have a Sarah Littleton but she was born c
1654 and married John Spivey in Nansemond County VA. No idea of her
family but I found some Littletons in Accomack County VA but no
answers there. It is amazing how many in my family use the first
name with no relationship to my Spivey. Appreciate any suggestions.

Hello,
I need any information regarding my 4t great grandparents Levin H. Powell and ??.
Levin H. married Elizabeth Cohagen of Loudoun Co in 1807. From this date forward this union produced several children, five of whom I can account for. This marriage took place in Loudoun. I have clues from a good source stating Levin H. was the father of
a William, Peyton , Catherine who married Gourley Reader in Loudoun and possibly other children. Levin H. was in the Rev. War . Pension info. states he resided in Fai
Marilyn,
There is a Mount Comfort Cemetery located on South Kings Highway in Fairfax,
Virginia. North Kings Highway is off of US Route 1 (Jefferson Davis
Highway) approximately three miles south of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
This area carries an Alexandria postmark and is in zip code 22306.
There is no church affiliated with this cemetery to my knowledge. Perhaps
someone else can help here.

Hi,
There's a John Mattingly listed in the 1820 census in Prince William County,
VA. In present-day Virginia Prince William Co. borders on Fairfax Co. but
can't say for certain if that was true in 1820.

Hello,
Wondering if anyone would be able to tell me where I might locate information
on a Mattingly marriage prior to 1830. John Mattingly was living in DC but
was living in the Moorefield, VA area in 1827 when his son, Thomas Joseph
Mattingly, was born and then in 1828 was in the Weston, VA area where he was
working in the clerk's office. I believe that he returned to the DC area around
1830.
I'm guessing that John Mattingly married prior to 1830 but he is not listed
in the DC marriage books. I'm
