8. RE: [VAFairfax] RE: To ALL Gunnells descendents !!!(and others !!) Also @ TUNNELL'S ! [0.985919]
I believe the Delaware and most Virginia Tunnells, Northumberland and other outer counties, are descendants of Lt Thomas Tunnell who was a member of Lord Baltimore's Guard. He was tried, acquited, and given a pension, after one of the rebellions in MD. He then moved to VA. This was in the mid-1600s. The Guillaume Tonnellier/William Tunnell line of Fairfax is supposedly a separate family. Regards, Steven C. Perkins On 1 Nov 2004 at 8:32, Wolfe, Joyce A. wrote: Date forwarded: Mon, 01 Nov 2004

Look at "This Was Vienna, Virginia", by Constance and Mayo Stuntz. Pp. 76-86 describe two Gunnell family estates, and family history. Other citations throughout. "Falls Church by Fence and Fireside" by Melvin Steadman has pp. 328-332 on the Gunnells, and additional shorter references. "Fairfax County, Virginia: A History", published by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors cites the Gunnells among a baker's dozen of families that were especially prominent in Fairfax County civic affairs in the

You are right about the spelling probably. I had a great great great grandfather of my sons. His first name was Ira and the last name Davis...you know how many Davis' there would be to just do a surname search. But I got lucky and hit on a mis-spelling.. Ire. so maybe you should try different spellings like you are doing. I am not sure if I answered you or not. I can't add very much and only liked the mention of the Lewis men in a 'transaction' with John Spencer and Icey. George, James, and Charles are sons of VIncent Lewis. Their sister, Sarah Lewis is my 6th great grandmother who married William Stanhope as his first wife and he had two others I know very little about Sarah which is sad. I do know they died in Loudon County VA but no dates of this. Luanne Spence Taylor On Nov 27, 2004, at 5:52 PM, sondrafo
20. Re: [VAFairfax] My Brick Wall, Ise Snow Spencer [0.985919]
I have no idea whether it is pertinent or not, but in the census' of NC about 1850-1860, there are several Snow family members listed in the NC northwestern counties such as Wilkes, Surry, Alleghany who have unusual given names such as Frost, Frostey, Icy, Deep which added to the surname Snow makes a somewhat unusual name. I realize you said your Ise died before 1800, whereas in the 1860 census this Icy was age 40 if I remember correctly . Good luck with your search! Mary Ann ----- Original Message -
