Thanks Arvil. I also have an interest in the Harris surname ( my wife is
working on this line) . We are following their migration from Virginia to
Missouri. Would you happen to have any info on this ?

Hello. I'm seeking information on FARIS/FARRIS family before 1780 in VA,
especially Henrico Co. My George M. (for Minor?) FARIS was b. 1769 in
VA, county and parents unknown. He was in Albemarle co. ca 1790. Thanks,

I sent two messages to the list in response to your message, but wanted to correspond with you
directly regarding my interest in sharing information you might have on the Harris line. I see that
you are probably descended from Mary Harris Ligon, sister of Robert Harris, children of Thomas
Harris. I am directly descended from Robert, and, like all Robert Harris researchers, am trying to
resolve the mystery of his parentage, particularly his mother (and Mary's). Was she Adrian Gurganey

Hello and welcome to the list. My name is Mike Simmons and I am the list

at first, but will pick up as we add more people. I was born and raised in
the Norfolk-VA Beach area and my ancestors are from Richmond and the
surrounding area. I now live in Missouri, but I'll always be a Virginian. I
will have to rely on you local Henrico members to answer some of the
questions put to the list. Maybe we'll also get some volunteers to do

I am relatively new to genealogy, but completely immersed in it, particularly my Harris line. I am
a direct descendent of Robert Harris and Mary Rice Claiborne. As any Harris researcher knows we are
at a bit of a stalemate with regard to Robert's parentage. Is he descended from Captain Thomas
Harris and Adria Gurganey, or Adria Osborne, or Joanne Gurganey, or Joanne Osborne. Was he born in
1615 in Essex, England or sometime between then and 1625 in Isle of Wight, or
Henrico,Virginia?.....I found the fol
