Thanks again. I'll try both sources.

Thanks for your help Cathy. I appreciate your taking the time to check notes.
The Devericks family research stops with Thomas. We only have records on him
from his land purchase in 1766. Nothing before that. We know who his kids were
but not who his wife was. If you happen to come across anything in the future,
please keep me in mind.

Most likely. I just found a few references to it in family notes and found
it on the 1848 map. Anything you have would be helpful. Thanks!

Mike, also find out where the records from the Church would go. I would check
with whatever Presbytery rules the area (I'm Presbyterian). If they don't
have the records, they would know where they went. Also you may want to check

IF you can't find out, let me know & I will try to find out for you. Let me
know how you make out. If I think of anything else, I will let you know.

Mike, I will try to go through my notes this weekend. I am curious--are you
combining the names Deverick and Dever? I have Dever ancestors in Highland
County and know where quite a few are buried. I passed the Church I am
thinking of on the way to a cemetery closer to Monterey last summer.
Cathy
The names are not combined. Two separate families.
The church that shows on the old map is south of 250, below Headwaters. I
drove down the road to where the old Devericks homestead was and found a
Liberty road but no church. I didn't have time to explore. It is possible
that the church could have been moved. One of the Devericks was responsible
for building the Presbyterian church that now stands in Headwaters. The old
church probably burned or was "moved" to the new location.

I have always understood from my research that the Devericks and Devers were
two distinct families. You would be surprised how many people insist that
they are one and the same.
Curiousity got the better of me. I had to get out my notes from last summer
in Pocahontas Co., WV, Highland Co., VA, & Pendleton Co., WV. The church I
was thinking of is the Beulah Presbyterian Churchb. It is located (I believe)
on Rt. 220 right before Mill Gap. Many of my Devers are buried in the Green
Hill Cemetery in Mill
I am looking for information on Liberty church. The 1848 map shows the church
just below Headwaters. Was there a cemetery with the church? I am trying to
find the final resting place of Thomas Devericks, d abt. 1810. From the map, the
church was near the land of his son John Devericks.
I did find a Liberty road when visiting last summer but didn't have the time to
explore further. I could find no reference to the church except for the map.
If anyone has any information concerning the church, cemetery,
Hello. I am looking for information on Thomas Armstrong "of Jennings Branch
of Middle (or Cathey) River." I think that may have been in KY. He had a
daughter named Jane who married Robert McKittrick prior to 1776 in VA
(probably Augusta or Highland Co.), a daughter Sarah who married Edward
Rutledge, and a daughter Rosanna who married Henry Murray. . He also had sons
William and Abel. As a widower, he married a widow named Ann Lafferty Stuart.
When he died he willed his "home plantation and the new sur

Thank you very much for the e-mail. What are "Ensign of Foot" and Chalkley,
III, 143? I will apreciate that additional help.
