I guess the message to which I was replying didn't make it to the mail
list. I had received an answer to my original request for help from
Jeff Jordan. He told me about Blacksburg. I've never been there, but
might go next spring.
Jeff told me that Virginia Tech has microfilm copies of Virginia
Confederate Service Records. That's all I know at this point. I tried
to get info from V. Tech from the internet, but got nowhere.
Jeff's address is JKJordanPE@aol.com

Looking for information on the Highland County 162nd Militia. The unit
went off to war sometime around 1863, but I have not been able to find
any records of when they actually left and where they went, nor anything
on casualties.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

That is a valuable tip. Thank you.
My gg grandfather, Henry A. Rexrode, was in Co. B of the 162nd Highland
County Militia. I have information that shows he was still in Highland
County as late as March 1863, but then he disappears.
There is a chance I will make a trip back to Virginia next spring. If
so, I will go to Blacksburg myself. If you get there before I do, I
will really apreciate you looking that up.
