Hello everyone.....
My name is Tami Ramsey and Freddie Spradlin has graciously agreed to let me
take over this mailing list and the Montgomery County GenWeb page as well.
(Thank you Freddie!) Many of you probably know me from my other pages and
mailing lists, but for those of you that don't I hope that we will all
become fast friends. I have learned in the past that if you have "kinfolk"
from the New River Valley it makes you an instantly "likable" person!

Looking for his parents, he was a widowed man so I am looking for his first wife and children.
Margaret Ann Smith married again, so she and Haislip were divorced or he died. Margaret Ann married a man by last name of Harless.
Also looking for his full name.

Found this message on my Franklin Co Tenn list. Wonder if we could get enough folks in the local area to bring them here. I don't know how to go about it myself, but if enough persons are interested, it would be worth checking into.

I recently sent a letter to the SSA for a copy of an application for Social

I have fallen with the Archives. This has been one heck of a summer
:) But it's been fun, just extremely busy. I have updated the WV counties

will be for files rcvd in July, so if you've sent a file in August, it
won't be on this update. I need to finish one month before I begin on
At some time before October 1787, in Montgomery Co. VA, Blackburn Akers, Sr.
and John Bishop signed a note for 12 lb. 11 shillings to John Plank,
witnesses Marthy Akers and Nancy Akers. Apparently the note was not satisfied
when due and Mr. Plank took them to court.
On 1787 October 1787, possbily as a result of the suit, Montgomery County
Sheriff Walter Crockett was ordered to hold AKERS and BISHOP.
My question is: Who was the witness Nancy Akers? Marthy was a daughter of
Blackburn, Sr. but there ar

I am researching Hilton, Martin, Jones, Vass and McClaugherty in Montgomery County. I live in Jacksonville, Florida and will be going to a Hilton Family Reunion in Ripplemead, Giles County in a couple of weeks. It has been over 40 years since I have been in Montgomery County. I want to visit the Montgomery County Courthouse. Could someone please provide me directions to the Montgomery Courthouse and tell me where I should go in the Courthouse to review birth, death, marriage and genealogical information

I'm still trying to reconcile the suit brought against Andrew's heirs in
1858 with the fact that one Andrew was alive in 1863-1864 to report these
deaths.
