Diana,
I hate to impose, but would you mind checking to see if you have any
BROWNINGS listed on the map.
I have Granville BROWNING, b. abt. 1790 and married Mary (Polly) BURNETT,
possible from Pittsylvania Co. abt. 1812. The license was issued in
Montgomery Co., but have been unable to locate any leads on BROWNINGs of
Montgomery Co.
I would be ever so greatful,

It has been pointed out to me that in discussing the library of VA I used the
word "microfiche" instead of microfilm. WHoops!! What they have there is mic
rofilm. I can't believe I wrote that wrong and then read it wrong and didn't
catch it either time. Sorry about that.
It's a pain to use, but it's microFILM.

Hi all,
Several people have asked me about ordering these maps so I'll tell
you what I know. It was made by the Roanoke County Historical Society.
It's great, cool, etc. I bought mine at the Montgomery County Courthouse
in Christiansburg, VA. at the information desk.
I spoke to Mrs. Christman who was so nice. She knows a bit about
Montgomery Co. since her people have lived there for a few centuries.
I think it was six or seven bucks and I would have paid twenty. It
is about 18x22 inches and a m

Follows are records Tom Thompson found at the Montgomery Co.,
Va., courthouse.
I can't reconcile the death of Nancy Thompson in 1863, d/o Andrew
and Hariett Thompson, with the Andrew Thompson whose heirs were
sued in 1858. In the suit there is a Nancy wife of John
Surface, "late" Nancy Thompson. So the Nancy who died in 1863
wasn't even dead then.
I would also very much like to get in touch with someone who may
have information about the Joseph Thompson who died in 1855 in
Kentucky. George Thompson, b.
Thanks Barb,
There is also a Bedford County Map.

Mary moved in 1792 to the Pine Creek Area of Floyd County (which was
Montgomery County at that time) when her son Daniel, Jr. purchased the

show that Daniel Spanglers parents were Hans Jacob and Elizabeth

I am planning a research trip to find information on families that lived in
Montgomery, Franklin are surrounding counties before 1804.
After 1804, they moved from VA.
I have never been to the particular counties or to Richmond, VA for research
for my ancestors that lived in those counties.
I have been doing most of my research regarding those counties on the web.
It's time to hit the road, I think. I will have about 4 weekdays to do
research.
Does anyone have an opinion on what locations to do fir
