The serivce is to be continued privately by Broadfoot Publishing Company. Pre- sently all of the Confederate microfilm records are being di- gitized by Tom Broadfoot, an

Thank you for the post and I very happy to learn that a publishing company of the SCV's choice has been selected to get these long neglected records out of decay and into print. I am not a current member of the SCV, but about ten years ago I was, and I know was the biggest issue the SCV was working on at the time. I hope the listowner will allow you to post to this list once the records are ready for sale. Good luck with this MAMMOTH project.

25. [VAWBTSVETS-L] 1890 Census Records [1]
We really do need the 1890 Census, however, this was burned in 1921. At the time, the census schedules were located in the basement of the Commerce Building in Washington, D. C. Even though the fire was contained, it flooded the area. The damage was not assessed until the following day, and it was noted that the census records soaked in the water overnight outside the protected vault area. The schedules were dried out, re-copied. But it was impossible to restore them. So? They should still be intact, yes?
