2. Re: [VERMONT-L] Vermont Vital Records Research [1]
Vermont Vital Records are kept by the individual town clerks. Like other states, Vermont did not have a law to require registration of vital record events until sometime in the mid to late 1800's. When the law was passed, the state required town clerks to send in to the state, on index cards, all of the records they had in the town records, PLUS records for all of the cemeteries in town. As a result, Public Records in Middlesex has birth, marriage, death and cemetery records in one central spot. I am to

11. Re: [VERMONT-L] Some graves I found today [0.978023]
For lists of cemeteries, try the USGS (United States Geological Service) GNIS data base. I don't have the URL at my fingertips, but any of the search engines should be able to find it for you. Once on it, look for the search options and select cemeteries. I was interested in Windsor, Windham and Rutland counties and was able to extract a list with very little difficulty. Best to you and yours... miles *******************************************************************8 ----- Original Message ----- From:
