years, I have run into the name Underwood in our line, have not connected
it yet to Native American. Cherokee Dawes rolls have a few Underwoods in
their rolls as well as the Cherokee Miller rolls. It doesn't tell where
they were from. But maybe this tib bit will help... I have found very few
records, Best ones I have found are a set of books called Cherokee by
Blood by Jerry Wright Jordan... If I find anymore on Underwood, will send
to l
Thank you but there is a story about a Misniah Cannaday who married Samuel
Underwood and she was suppose to be Cherokee so if you ever run across that
will you let me know I can give you dates.Gloria

I haven't posted anything in quite awhile so I thought I would try again and
see if I can make any headway into the one brick wall I have left.
I have a marriage in 1839-40 of a woman to Alexander Brownlow. Family
legend has that this unknown woman was Native American probably Cherokee but
I can not find her name anywhere to confirm or deny the idea.
She had her first child, James A. in 1841, then Jacob N. 1842, Nancy Ann
1845, and probably died either giving birth or right after the birth of her
