Hello, Steve, Thanks for the offer. Do you see any Carley or Smedley families in your index? I don't think my Carley/Smedley lines are in Newbury, I believe them to be in Williamstown, but would you check to make sure? Sometimes families are in locations we don't think they are in. 23. [VTORA] Question about the Pierce surname in James Pierce Whitney [1]
To answer your question, yes, the Pierce in my great great grandfather James Pierce Whitney was a family surname. His mother's name was Caroline Pierce and his father was Joseph Whitney. ( My only brother has our mother's maiden name Osborne as his middle name too.) I don't have much information unfortunately on Caroline Pierce's family. They are one of my brick walls. What little I I've been able to find out about them has been either through my grandmother who is now deceased or through census records

Phyllis. I am interested in a family that settled in Strafford, VT (Orange Co). Elijah Beeman/Beaman/or Bemon (possibly) married a Patience Hatch in 1770. They both died there, Patience in 1830 and Elijah in 1833. Would appreciate if this family is mentioned, particularly if there was a son named Solomon. Thanks for any help. Marge
