This would be the William Waddell who married Anne Carter in Halifax County, VA on 27 Jul 1779. She was the daughter of John Carter, great-great granddaughter of Giles. I think he was William IV but I have no proof. RE William/Noel: I am just scratching the surface here but there was a William Waddill married to a wife named Ann in Pittsylvania County VA. He appears as household head in a Virginia census of 1785 and lived to witness a deed in 1808, so he could be about the right age for the Revolution. There are several Noel Waddills in that same area. Noel Sr, fathered Noel Jr. Noel Jr married in 1786 and was still trading property in 1817. I have 1850 census from Spartenburg twp, SC. Listed are WADDELL's, A Waddell, Louisa, P.Waddell, Waddill Clayborn, James Waddill Waddle Berry, C. Waddle, William Hope this Helps. Doris Also The Waddell comming out of VI are from the poney Express Waddell's or From Alexander Waddell's family from Scotland.

Thanks for the extra data. I notice much of my recent information seems to include Halifax as well as Pittsylvania County. Does anyone know if a county was split to make these two counties? Also, I'd like to have some of the pros here to comment on a conclusion I have reached. My well documented Ggrandfather Calvin is known to have been born in Pittsylvania County VA in 1832. Hi Don...I am John L Waddell, I live in SC and have a 3rd cuz in Louisville, Ky who is up on the Waddell Tree..His name is Darrell G. Waddell... Hello all, I don't think my Jonathan Clayborn "Pa Clabe" Waddell fits in Don's equation. He was my Great-Grandfather, born July 19, 1866, in Hart County, Kentucky and passed away April 18, 1942, also in Hart County.
