To Willie Whelan and all his helpers, A very sincere thank you for all the work you have done in recent months... nay years!...for the benefit of all genealogists with roots in Waterford. There are few sites that offer as much family history as Waterford's and now it has become easier and faster to find the people and history we seek. Joanne Callender Tucson Arizona, USA

5. [WAT] Re: WATERFORD-D Digest V03 #67 [1]
I would also like to say how teriffic and useful the Waterfordcoco site is as I try to research my Co. Waterford roots. It gives me a great feeling to know that those still in Waterford also value the same things as others scattered around the Earth, and are willing to extend themselves to those ends. Thanks to all those great people who have had a part in the development and continuation of this site. Russell Brown Freeland, Michigan , USA

8. [WATERFORD] Season's Greetings! [1]
There won't be a lot of traffic on the list, so from now through Christmas Day, we will relax the rule that messages must be related to genealogy, and open it up to Irish jokes (CLEAN ones!), holiday greetings, Christmas stories from your family, and terrific holiday recipes. I want to wish you all, including the silent lurkers, a very merry Christmas and a far more prosperous New Year, please God, than the last one. May you all break through your brick walls and find new reles in 2009. Janet
9. [WATERFORD] CROWLEY, CARTHAGE [1]
Hi Listers, Does anyone have any info on a Carthage Crowley in the Lismore area? I am researching my Crowley line, Margaret Crowley born to Michael Crowley and Ellen Keiley in Lismore. Buried in the family grave as seen on the Waterford County Library site is a Carthage Crowley (infant). I have seen 1 other Carthage Crowley in Griffiths Valuation (obviously an adult) and am wondering if he is connected with my family. Cheryl
10. [WATERFORD] IGP Archives - needs military lists etc [1]
Hi, We are in the process of adding submission forms to the IGP Archives. We have a new form which has never been used. We really need someone to try it out and make sure it is working. And you can share some data along the way. So, looking for military roster lists. Letters. That type of thing. If you are typing the information in, please copy it so if anything goes awry you can close and then go back in a paste your data. Thanks! Christina The direct link to the forms is: http://www.genrecords.org/irfiles
11. [WATERFORD] Diocese of Cashel & Emly book [1]
I received my copy of the new book today and this really is a lovely book - 385 pages in full color with gorgeous photographs not only of the churches, inside and out, but of scenery in each parish. There must be a couple of hundred color photos. And information about each parish with some history, put together by Fr. Christy O'Dwyer, now PP Cashel but formerly Head of St. Patrick's College in Thurles, and was published by Iditions du Signe in Strasbourg. Beautiful job they did, too. The book is 30 E
12. [WATERFORD] 1836 Marriage at St Patrick's Church [1]
Hi List- I have found from the Waterford Heritage Society that my ggggrandparents (James Stackpole and Mary Nash) were married Nov. 28, 1836, at St Patrick's Church of Ireland parish Waterford City. One of their children was baptized in the Roman Catholic parish/church of Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary, March 28, 1839. My first question is this- what are the chances that either of these two churches still exist? How should I go about finding out? I will be visiting Ireland July 2009 (I live in New York.

21. Re: [WATERFORD] Museum News [1]
Hi Willie, I am looking forward to the new and improved website. As far as genealogy goes, I would love to see newspaper reports on crimes committed as this would help a lot of people, particularly in Aus. as it would help them track back their ancestors. Also, any report, newspaper or otherwise, listing names which would act as a pseudo-census. Putting a surname with a place and a date can only help. Listings of graves in the many graveyards would help. Military lists. Anything like that. Do you know

In my late mother-in-law's Irish RC family, some of her ancestors had been brought up Protestant for inheritance reasons. They were not, however, from co Waterford. The Waterford city parish registers do show in the coments section if one of the couple has converted.
