Here are some names appearing on some early deed records in Mecklenburg County, NC. All of the land is located in the area of Rocky River Road and Waxhaw Creek. These people are not my line, but appear as either sellers, buyers, or witnesses on deeds involving my line (Fisher). The information has been taken from the book "The Fisher Scrap Book 1730 - 1972" compiled by William L. Jones. All deed references are Mecklenburg County.

Valeria,
There is some mention of the Crockets in Mecklenburg Signers. However, I am
not sure when I can submit them. I have not been well and cannot be sure
when I will feel up to it.
I would like to submit anything I can. This book is loaded with information
but I don't know what the copyrights are as far as me putting me on the
internet.
If anyone knows if a book can be put on here, let me know. I will try to do
it. It's very small print and hard to read. I think that a few references

There's a special book available right now called "Young Hickory"
by Hendrik Booraem. Published by Taylor Trade Publishing.
Find a description on www@Amazon.com. It is very thorough and
excellent. Miss Nancy Crockett, "Historian of the
Waxhaws," and myself, read it while in manuscript form. And, those
of you who know Miss Crockett know that she would not let him get
away with any inaccuracies.

ANDREW JACKSON - BRAVE BOY OF THE WAXHAWS
by Louise Pettus
Andrew Jackson, destined to become a general and commander-in-chief of the American
forces, was only 13 years old when he first felt the horror and exceitement of war.
Charleston, South Carolinas capital city, fell to the British on May 12, 1780. That
summer the British swarmed over the colony, meeting little resistance except in the area
now York, Chester, and Lancaster counties, the center of Scotch-Irish settlement in the upcountry.

These brothers supposedly came to Waxhaw Creek area after the Rev War, and
settled. They also went by name SPRAY. (most of them dropped the berry
after a legal fight). James died ca 1820 either in Mecklenburg Co, NC,or
Lancaster County, SC. John died in 1835 in Mecklenburg County, NC, leaving
a wife Elizabeth. Archibald died between 1820-1830 in Mecklenburg COunty.
I feel that the burial locations are in Union County, NC, as they lived on
Waxhaw creek before Union COunty was formed. Does anyone have a
Joy,
I don't think that someone can post a book to the internet without the permission of
the author. I am not real clear on copy right laws. I will research that. I think
privately it would be ok but then again I don't know.
I hope you get to feeling better and I wish you speedy recovery. =)
