Hi all Those listers with research interests in the north of Oxfordshire might be interested to know that that the latest three CD releases from Oxfordshire FHS are all Banbury area parish register transcripts. These include virtually all of the major parishes in the Banbury area, as well as several non-conformist and Roman Catholic registers as well ! For further details, please see :- http://www.ofhs.org.uk/CDsales.html I hope that helps. Paul Gaskell Minutes Secretary and Publicity Office

8. [WSX] Wardour Castle archives [1]
Hello everyone I am interested in work done (bookplates) engraved by William Haskoll of Winchester sometime between 1756 and 1769 for Mary Lady Dowager Arundell. I am wondering if any records exist of invoices, receipts etc., for work done. Does anyone know where I could enquire. 9. [WSX] HORSINGTON family [1]
Does anyone have any connections with the Horsington family. A William Horsington was father in law to Richard Tucker b1734 of Bridport. I have encountered the name on Richard's will. William Horsington came from somewhere in the county of Somerset but I cannot read where.( about 7 or 8 letters with a g or y near the middle) A birth date of around early 1700s is likely. His daughter, Richard's wife, was named Elizabeth. Elizabeth had also been the 'intended' of Richard's brother Thomas but Thomas died be
10. [WSX] New SOUTHAMPTON List Administrator [1]
Dear Family Historians Somewhat to my surprise I have just become the 'List Administrator' for the SOUTHAMPTON List, so I thought I'd better say Hi not only to those of you already enrolled on that list, but to those on other lists which involve Hampshire ancestry. I find that currently we have 102 people enrolled as L, and 39 as D members. The number surprised me a little, as the activity on the list is very low - about 4 a week I think! Not all of those enquiries are truly involved with the Sout

12. Re: [WSX] Ramsbury '71' [1]
Hi Andy, I can't help on your 61/71 search but as both men had a trade you could try here for some info: http://www.historicaldirectories.org/ I've found people here before and the search engine is pretty good. Also I'd like to ask a favour, if it will take too long then just say. Not sure how your 51 Wilts CD is set up but could you copy and paste me any info on any Warminster Edwards? Good luck in your hunting, Kirsten --- Andy Mawer wrote: > Hi All, > Would it be possible

Hello Avis The Later Day Saints Church Family History Center which I go to for my genealogy research has photo copys of an excelent Parish Boundary book. They have the original book in the library and it is very helpful. If you have not as yet visited a Family History Centre I would urge you to, the people are friendly and they only talk about genealogy. Regards Ian MacPherson Victoria B.C. Canada
14. [WSX] Brewer of Bampton Devon [1]
List I am researching Brewer of Bampton, Devon. My family is reasonably well researched back to John and Susan Brewer of Bampton who had 6 children (at least) christened at the local church between 1714 and 1732. I am seeking their marriage and then family further back from them. I have obtained most parish register transcriptions containing this name from 1712-50 from another researcher. I also have churchwardens/overseers accounts mentioning Brewers, some stonemasons, drawing poor relief in same perio
15. [WSX] CABELL of North Bradley, Wilts 1700-1800 - AAAgh!! [1]
Hi All, I wasn't going to download another will, But! Remember these? Ann Cabbell or Cabell, Widow of North Bradley Wilts, 19 Feb 1777 Betty Cabell, Spinster of North Bradley Wilts, 10 Oct 1801 Mary Cabell, Spinster of North Bradley Wilts, 28 May 1825 Joseph Cabell, Gentleman of North Bradley Wilts, 03 Apr 1828 I just had to look at Ann Cabell's will - and yes - She is 'My' Prudence's mother, Betty & Mary are Pru's sisters and Joseph is her brother - so the question is - who was the father. Obviously fa
16. [WSX] New Family Letters Website [1]
I am in the process of starting a new section of my website where transcripts may be posted of family letters relating to UK families, either sent internally in UK or from/to other parts of the World. I have already tested the interest in the idea on two of my mailing list and found considerable interest and a number of people willing to share their family letters. The idea behind the site is that many family letters include references to unknown relatives or unrelated people who might be known to some ot

19. Re: [WSX] Wardour Castle archives [1]
Mary, Barry D Williamson published 2 booklets in 1997 on Wardour and the Arundells. In one he mentions that "... the old Castle is now under the guardianship of the Deparetment of the Environment and the new Castle is a school....". In the other he states "... The Arundell archives are stored in the Wiltshire Record Office at Trowbridge, reference WRO 2667. The papers relating to the park consist of a bundle of letters and memorandums from Richard Woods to Lord Arundell, architectural drawings for build
20. [WSX] Charlotte BEACHAM of Chew Magna [1]
This message is aimed at Joy Hungerford but if the info contained helps anyone then please drop me a line. I'm hoping Joy is still subcribed as the postings of hers are old but here it goes: The Charlotte BEACHAM I have was christened 20/9/1818 (but I don't know her birth date) in Chew Magna. Her parents were George BEACHAM 24/7/1775 Chew Magna and Sarah OSMOND Tiverton. 21. [WSX] Road, Somerset Look up please [1]
Hi All, I wonder if someone might have access to the parish records for Road in Somerset? and could trawl through a 50 year period for a particular name? I have a family of CABELLs who were living in Road, in the parish of North Bradley, Wilts from around 1730 to 1780. This would literally be just 'across the road' from Road parish in Somerset - as the county boundary went down the middle of the street. And would mean that the parish church (St Lawrence?) in Road would have been a lot closer than the Nor
22. [WSX] Somerset parish map? [1]
Does anyone know of a good map of Somerset that shows all the parishes? Something along the lines of the one provided by the Devon Family History Society for Devon? (For those not familiar with that one, its address is http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/maps.htm.) Cheers, Avis Anderson Montreal, Canada gen_avis@sympatico.ca
23. Re: [WSX] Ramsbury [1]
Hello Andy They certainly have some records at Wiltshire. Whether these are originals or transcripts I cannot offhand remember. I think Ramsbury has always been in Wiltshire so parish records should be there - references to Hungerford District are for registration (ie BMD) records and such things as Census Districts and I am fairly sure that census records for "borderline parishes" would be held at both record offices anyway. Hope this helps. Ray Collins Weymouth, Dorset ----- Original Message ----- Fro
