Hello, I have a James West that is a complete mystery to me. Maybe someone can help! My James West was my grt grandfather. My grandmother Ruby West Lyle b. 1909 d. 1987 was raised in Chattanooga, TN by an aunt named Sally starting about 1919. I always thought the reason was because Ruby's parents died in the flu epidemic of 1918-19 but was told recently that was not the whole truth. But my aunt who doesn't remember much more of the story. beebewest, I can't say for sure that the information I have is about your Lemuel West, but the only one I've found so far in all my searching is - a Lemuel West, born sometime in the early 1700s to William West of Princess Anne County, VA. The following references are extracted from some old handwritten notes made by my great aunt back sometime around the 1930s, so I hope you can follow them.
