To be honest, the only name that I have is my ggrandmother. Her name was
Mary L. West-Hatten. She was born 1847 either in MS. or La. She died in 1915 in
Winn Parish. Her husband was Rev. Isham R. Hatten. No one has been able to
find who her parents or siblings were.
Thanks so much!
None of my West's have this trait that I know of.

Well, our West 4th toes touch the ground, but they are curved sort of like a
C. (That's one beside the little toe). I check the dictionary on the
INTERNET and I found "dersiflex toes" or "dorsiflex toes"
Can you tell me a little more about Samuel?
I'm stumped with Samuel and I think he was the father of the lineage I
am researching......shows he was one of the first to settle in Cambria /
Centre Counties some literature indicates that he was the first settler
to the area......I just don't know if the time frames are accurate for
who I am looking for.
Any info would be quite welcome.
Thanks

Hello.
Is anyone on the list a descendent of the above Samuel West? He was born
abt. 1732. I understand that he was a Capt. in the Pennsylvania regiment. Does
anyone know anything about him?
Thanks.
Lisa
Hello cousins:
We have added several new DNA test results
to the web page:
http://web.utk.edu/~corn/westdna/
Most of them had a DNA match to another
WEST. We now have 10 Family groups
identified by DNA.
Check the 'Results' page to see data
generated by a DNA test. Click on the
'ancestors' page to see if one of our
current participants could be in your line.
Email me if you have questions.

I have some West's that I have found in some old Spartanburg Co. SC records.
So I would be interested. The two main names I am looking for are Charles
West and William Stephen West around the late 1700's and early 1800's.
Thanks,
Mark West
Am new to this list and am looking for Abel W. West born c 1819, married Nancy Workman in 1939 and lived in Gumborough area. Had the following children: Sarah (Sallie), Joseph Paynter, Isaac, Nathaniel, Benjamin and Elizabeth. Would appreciate any input. Thank you. Jane Van Zandt
I just went to Google and typed "Dorsiflex toes" and got back 737 hits to
review, give it a go.
My recently deceased at 93 yrs Mother an 8th generation descendant of a
Thomas West b. 1702 in Bonby, UK, also had several toes curled under.
Don't give up, keep trying to all.

I have received a death certificate for a J. W. West who died Nov. 1911 in
Gibson Co. Tn. He was 66 yrs old at death. It also states he was born in
Gibson Co. and was a farmer. Also he was married at time of death. If this
fits someones West, I'll glady forward.
Thanks Joe
Does anyone have any info on a James West who married Elizabeth Peacock in
Burlington County, NJ? I am a DAR member so wrote for a copy of one of
the applications of any woman who went into DAR on Adonijah Peacock, father
of Elizabeth. The copy I received showed that Elizabeth married James West,
but no verification of it. Later records shows that Elizabeth Peacock
married James Reed in 1778 in Burlington County, NJ.
Were there two Elizabeth Peacocks, daughters of Adonijah, or is one of these

Looks like there were two Stephen West's in this area about the same
time. My Stephen West b. 1780-1790 in Maryland was the son of Joseph
West and his wife, Mary Offutt. This West family moved to the area of
Union Co. & Spartanburg Co., SC in the late 1700s. Stephen West m. ca
1832 to Jane M. Porter b. 1816 in NC; they had nine children all born in
SC. This Stephen West family migrated south into Georgia ca 1850-1860.

I probably don't know any more than you already know. He was born in 1732 in
Springfield, Chester County, Pa., the son of John West and Sarah Pearson and
the brother of the famed artist Benjamin West, America's first
internationally known artist. Tradition on our side of the family has it
that we are descendants of another brother.
That has been difficult to prove. My line lists Edward West as a brother,
but none of the biographies on Benjamin show an Edward, although they say
there were probably mor

Kelli,
It would be helpful if you would include some dates to help you in your research.

Hi Again Dennis,
I talked to you late last year via E-mail. We are West from Westbrook
Township, Sampson County, NC now most of the family live in MD. I have lost some of
my correspondence with you, so have some questions. My PC crashed.
I have only 3 males in my family, most of the family members are girls. In
other words we have more girls than boys in our family. My brother are willing
to take to DNA test. If we only have 3 males (all brothers) is that enough?

My cousin and I had a discussion today about WEST traits. We have noticed
that we have moles on both sides of our necks, stomach and waist. We also have
toes next to the little toe that are curved sort of like a C. Does any
other WEST have any of these traits? We noticed that our children have the same
traits, too.
