2. Re: WEST-CENTRAL-KY-D Digest V99 #160 [1]
The Priddy name is familiar to those who have lived in Edmonson County, a Henry Bib Priddy (md. Laura Jane Sanders daughter of Hardin Sanders (1841-1917) and Mary Frances Constant(1846-1908). Henry Bib was a blacksmith. I know this isn't the name you were looking for, but the Priddy's lived on what is today Mammoth Cave National Park. Henry Bib Priddy owned a farm on the Turn Hole Bend of the Nolin River. There are many Priddy's in Edmonson County today. Hardin County would be the like place to start l

5. Re: Schardein Cemetery [1]
I was at the Schardein Cemetery a couple of years ago to photograph the tombstone of my Ggrandmother who died about 1916. It was in fairly decent shape at that time. I found the cemetery listed on a Louisville City map. Cannot recall the exact location and I can't find my Louisville map but it was on the west side of town in a very poor section of town and clearly marked on the map. Seems it was near 31W up near the downtown part. The entrance was on a very large street with lots of traffic. Bob

7. Re: DAR [1]
The DAR DOES ACCEPT "children born out of wed lock". However one must be able to prove, by baptism/birth record, court record, land records, wills etc..that the child was the son/daughter of... This applies to any ancestor/ancestor line a person is trying to use to join DAR regardless of manner of birth parents. If you can prove the iligitimate child as the daughter or son of the father or mother there is no problem. Please, it is is no "big great deal" to be able to join the DAR. It is f
8. RE: Julia Ann (??) [1]
Fay: I believe that Julia Ann Phelps and Woodford Phelps were my gggrandparents, too. I believe they had a daughter named Nancy M. who was my gggrandmother. My gggrandmother was called "Maggie" but her name was Nancy Magnolia. I have not been able to prove that this Nancy M and my Maggie are one in the same but there are so many seeming connections that I am fairly sure. If you have any information that would help prove that this Nancy M and Maggie are one in the same, I would be your new best fr

11. Re: Schardein Cemetery [1]
I tried that phone number for a year and no one answered. I think it is maintained by Cave Hill or Eastern Cemetery (641 Baxter is the address of Eastern Cemetery) But Schardein Cemetery is nowhere close to Cave Hill Cemetery. You might be thinking of Eastern which is close by and a rather large cemetery. I found my marked map and Schardein in a very small cemetery located between DixieHighway (31W) and Taylor Blvd on 7th Street Road (1931) just south of Algonquin Parkway on the Louisville-Shiv

18. Re: WEST-CENTRAL-KY-D Digest V99 #140 [1]
I am a new subscriber. My paternal family roots come out of Meade and Breckinridge Counties. I am trying to gather all the information needed to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. DAR. They require birth, death, and marriage certificates for all couples dating back to the ancestor that fought in the war. Not only does that seem expensive but sounds close to impossible since the courthouse was destroyed and all the records destroyed in the tornado in the early seventies....was

21. SWOPE-PHILLIPS [1]
In the Owensboro Area near Whitesville, there are families connected to the SWOPE family that are related to the WILLIAM H. PHILLIPS family. He was b. Feb 14, 1821 in KY and d. Mar 13, 1905 buried in Habit Cemetery, near Owensboro. One was a JOHN SWOPE who lived on a farm out of Whitesville in 1939. He may be buried in th
22. RE: County Records in Central KY [1]
Stan, Butler County was formed in 1810. The records are excellent back to that time, with the exception of four missing pages from the first marriage book. However, those missing marriages have been supplied by someone who apparently copied the pages before they departed the courthouse. To my knowledge, Muhlenberg County also had good records back to the formation of that county in 1799. Butler was formed out of Logan to the south and Ohio to the north. Muhlenberg was formed out of Logan and Christ
