To follow up the earlier answer to Marc, here is the on-topic paragraph from the Rice site. Go there: http://www.widomaker.com/~gwk/era/haplotype.htm for other informative links. Apparently, we seek to recontruct the: 'genetic "fingerprint" or haplotype of our immigrant ancestor.' The Edmund Rice (1638) Association has a project underway seeking to discover the ancestors of Edmund Rice and other Rice and Royce families. (There was a tendency in past centuries to regard these two spellings as interchangeabl

Pat, I saw some of my work on there - I'm anwetgr. Other people have taken in and incorporated it into files which is OK with me, I don't care. You can go to GenCircles or WorldConnectProject and find mine and several others work which is virtually identical. Doyle has a lot of mine. Collene, I am interested in your line from (5) William Witherington on down. This is all I have on your (5) William Witherington, that he was a son of Robert Witherington Jr. and Lois(or Louise) Hardison and is mentioned in the following deed: DB CC, p. 62 - On Jan. 4, 1822, the land of Robert Weatherington, dec., was divided as follows: 40 acres to Richard, 76 acres to William, 50 acres to Argent, 40 acres to Sarey, 30 acres to Robert, 82 acres to Nancy, and 67 acres to Noah. Fred, I think it sounds like a great project, and you & your 'crew' sound like you have a good handle on it. BTW, the Rice-L List is doing something like this - I'll paste some info below. Perhaps there are possible cross-fertilization prospects there. I'd be very interested in learning what you learn. BTW, FYI, there is a RootsWeb dna-L List that addresses some of these issues: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Miscellaneous/GENEALOGY-DNA.html Topic: This mailing list is for anyone with DNA
7. [Witherington] Re: dna study [1]
Hi Marc, Good Questions: [Q: Does it matter if you have descended via mothers or fathers? Does your pedigree from Robert Witherington have to be all mothers or all fathers or can it be a mixture?] Been awhile. Getting dna is a medical exercise. But finding common dna establishes common ancestors OR lack of common dna establishes lack of common ancestors. So we apparently assume that if 10 Wtons are tested and 9 have the 'common' dna traits, then the 10th one is from another line. If we had Robt's

There is no proof that Peter is the son the William Witherington md to Elizabeth Lewis. In fact it appears that there was another William who settled in Tatnall Co, GA and was the progenitor of the WETHERINGTON clan. Hi Fitchetts, I'm not sure this large Tree got into the Fitchett-L Archives, but since it has a a mid 1600s Fitchett: " 2 Esther Witherington b: ABT. 1635 d: BEF. 20 JUN 1655 + Joshua Fitchett" you should each have access to it, courtesy of Doyle Wetherington. 14. RE: [Witherington] Re: dna study [1]
The key to Barry's comments on DNA showing common ancestry is in the qualifier "must match mine in relevant detail". A lot of very questionable genealogy is going to come out of all of the DNA tests going on at the moment because the detail of the matches will not be adequate to determine a specific line. A match with Barry, for example, might mean that you also descend from Robert - assuming that Barry does, which I believe continues to be a major assumption - or it might mean that you both descend from

I am interested in the dna study to determine if our line comes thru Robert. Does the dna sample have to come from a man in our line? If so, I would have to get one of my uncle's sons to give me a sample of their blood. If we come thru Robert Widdrington-- it would be Robert (1); Solomon (2); Robert (3); Robert (4) ; William 1811 (5) Wm Richard (gr father) (6) Robert D. (7) an uncle; Bob Withereington (8) a son of Robert D. Please give me the specifics, Collene ----- Original Message ----- From: <

Trish, I don't have any information really on who William's family were. Since he lived in Houston County, Georgia for so many years near Robert (And this is the Robert that was married to Hollan Tillman I believe). I have been trying for years to gather information on William's family. I have some copies of deeds (or parts of the deeds) that I can copy and mail to you. I am not having much luck in trying to send them via email attachment, etc. What is your mailing address and I will make a copy of what
