If you are ordering online from the GRO then the reference on Free BMD
is the one to use.
I assume that the North Wales Birth Index reference numbers are for
ordering certificates direct from the Welsh registrars and that is why
the numbers are different.
Hope this helps

Michelle, you are pure magic
.
Briefly my husband has been going through his family tree and this
incomplete address came via word of mouth hence the spelling.
I am sure it will be the correct place as his family lived in Holywell at
some stage.
It would be wonderful to have any information available.
I am the one who has been researching my family and was just helping him to
solve this problem.Needless to say my problems remain mainly unsolved.
I will ask him to tell me more of his interest and
Hi Ray thank you for your reply I have been on this list for about two years
now and just recently decided to try again for my 'Jones' family, it is a
very quiet list. My William was married in 1827 to Elizabeth Parry I find
the info on the LDS site, but have to agree its liking finding a needle in a
haystack, the family don't seem to be registered anywhere.
I haven't thought of the non conformist records I think this would mean a
trip to Wales. I hope you have some luck soon.
Regards Nancy Priestley. York
Thank you Vic for a job well done. Enjoy your rest. Welcome to Alwyn.

I am really stuck with a means to find any information on
STOCKYNG HALL Flintshire.
The house was lived in circa 1850 -1900 by a family said to have owned it for some generations.
I do not have a family name .
The spelling may be any variation on the above.
I would welcome any ideas on where /how to search or if any one knows the House that would be wonderful.
Any help or ideas will be really appreciated.
Kind regards,
Sue in LLantrisant.

Hello,
I am looking at ordering a birth certificate online and have some confusion!
On the North Wales BMD it says:
North Wales Birth indexes for the years: 1859
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Reference
DEVENEY Thomas Mold Flintshire West - Holywell MOLD/15/2
But on the Free BMD site it says:
Births Mar 1859
DEVENEY Thomas Holywell 11b __9
Which number do I enter???
Thanks,
Sharyn

A Birth, Marriage or Death in England and Wales has been registered, since
1837, in the local registration offices. The local registration offices tend
to be in the main towns in north Wales, such as Holywell.
Every three months the local registrar sends a copy of his or her registers
to the General Register Office in London.
So you have two places from which you can get copies of B M D certificates,
the local office or the central registry.
The North Wales BMD is a transcription of the index held by loc

Would anybody be familiar with the Benjamin family of Mold? Something to do
with Benjies dried food? The Benjamins are also family names but I have not
got this far back yet.

Nancy,
I cannot help you directly but I have a William Jones,Tailor, in Mold in
1841 and I have recently spent 3 hours looking for his marriage in the
Church of Wales BMD.Since I could not find it I can only assume that he was
non-conformist.Do you have any experience with Non-conformist BMD
,particularly Mold?
By the way your e-mail is the only one I have received in the past 24 hours
from rootsweb.Is that your experience?

There are many, many mistakes in the transcription of the 1901 census so I suggest you check whether there was a Thomas born in Manchester at the date given in the 1901 census. If not, I would assume Mold Flintshire has been misread by an Indian transcriber as Manchester!. There are far worse mistakes than that!
