Yes that's correct but I have not got any confirmation. Someone on the
Manchester site ages ago suggested the marriage at Manchester Cathedral.
Births or should I say Baptisms on the IGI.

I know very little about my Foulkes line, so there may be a connection
somewhere.
My Foulkes is a Flintshire family:
Samuel Foulkes born 1808 Northop (parents Robert and Catherine - nothing
known, except a possible 1851 census - kindly found for me by John
Edwards - for Robert in Northop in the same street as John Foulkes
family and William Foulkes family)
Samuel Foulkes married Mary Evans 1830 - their daughter:
Margaret Foulkes born 1841 Mold (married Francis Evans in Pontblyddyn
1863)

Sorry Patricia,
Forgot to say that William Roberts was a Labourer and so was his father
William Croft on the marriage certificate.

Would anyone be kind enough to see if they can find any record of a marriage between a John France and a Sarah ?Hughes? between the dates of 1820 and 1840 possibly in the Holywell or Whitford area.
Also baptism record of John France in the Holywell parish approximately November 1821, he died at 3 months old on 17th February 1822, would love to know who his parents were.
Many thanks,
Gwen
Can anyone find my gg grandfather FRANCIS EVANS in 1841 and 1861
This looks likely as Francis and his parents in 1851
Fron (Bron) Haul, Llangwyfan 1851 census
Edward Evans 34 (landyrnog) coal dealer
Mary Evans 32 (Whitford)
Francis Evans son 12 (Whitford) errand boy
I would therefore expect francis to be at Whitford or Llangwyfan in 1841
Francis married in 1863 giving his address as Tai Bowen, Leeswood,
Thanks Patricia,
All I know which is not definite is Ellen Roberts abt 1839 Ann Roberts abt
1840 do not know were born and who I believe is my great grandfather Thomas
Roberts 27 Dec 1840 and it shows on the 1871 census as born in Manchester.
Census taken in Pentre Bagillt Hollywell married to Harriet Roberts nee
Benjamin.
Thanks Sue

What I said about Ffoulkes applies to Francis.
He does not seem to be in Flints, so perhaps he fell down the Pontblyddyn
black hole.

This is the family I am hoping SKS can trace in censuses prior to 1871:
(in 1871 Samuel and Mary are living at Tai Bowen, Mold, Flint - the
address their daughter also gave when she married in 1863)
SAMUEL FOULKES born about 1808 Northop, Flintshire
MARY FOULKES born about 1808 Bryn y bal, mold
MARGARET FOULKES born about 1841 Mold
Also Samuel's parents: (sorry - no more info than this)
ROBERT FOULKES
CATHERINE FOULKES
If there is SKS with some time when next at the records office to see
Hello Everybody,
I wonder if anyone on this list went to Hope School? It is the centenary of
the school this year, and various celebrations are planned. I'd love to
hear from anybody with any memories. Also, any memories of the whole
Hope/Caergwrle area.
I'm writing a booklet. What should I put in it?? I'm writing a history of
the school, and have various exerpts from Log Books and Managers' Minutes
Books, but what else?
I'd like to find who has moved furthest from the school? Anyone in
Australia/N
You can try the following for information on obtaining a copy of a birth registration.

Is there anyone on the list doing research on the BATEMAN family. My great-grandfather John S. BATEMAN left the U.K. for America in 1872. His middle initial is supposed to stand for Samuel. His exact date of birth according to his age on the 1920 Federal U.S. Census is 1857. It showed his age as 63. He was 65 when he died in 1922. So I will need someone to tell me if there is a family member missing in Flintshire for 1872 on. My great-grandfather's father is named John. His wife Laura MILLER did not know

Hello Listers,
I have recently joined up to help a friend with her COREY family from Dyserth and Rhuddlan. Does anyone have information on this family? In particular I am looking for the birthplace of Samuel Corey, born c. 1801. I believe he became a vet.
best wishes,
Pam (in France)
Hi Sue,
Thanks for the info. full age of course means over 21 so we still have to
sort of guess the birth year but that is no problem with a marriage date to
work back from. Do you know of any children of this marriage? Is there a
line of work down for William on the certificate, as with there being
hundreds of William Roberts' it would help to narrow him down. I found an
Elizabeth and Wiiliam on the 1851 census index, but when going to the page
it had not been filled in! As there are so many Willi
Hi Sue,
I am just checking a couple of things........you have Ellen b 1839, Ann b
1840 and Thomas b1840 and a marriage for 1840. Is this right?

Hi Patricia,
I have now got the marriage certificate for my couple who I am looking for. (Taken just 3 days to come)
It makes interesting reading with regarding one of their fathers name.
Marriage date Dec 30 1840 in the mother church parish of Hawarden county of Flint. Both of full age. WILLIAM ROBERTS bachelor father WILLIAM CROFTS labourer. ELIZABETH JONES spinster father JOHN JONES farmer. Residence both Pentrobin.
If you can help in anyway regarding them on any census much appreciated.

The place you are looking for is Pontblyddyn, where the 'Tai Bowen' houses
were.
I've sent 1851 off-list, but the area is one of the missing ones on 1861, so
I hope that will help, but I would assume that if they were still there in
1871, then that would apply to 1861.
I think Margaret was working as a servant elsewhere in 1861, so if you want
that I can send it.
It may be worth looking at the following site for baptisms, although the
ones I looked at didn't fit.
All the best
John

Thank you very much for Samuel Foulkes in 1851. "Yes please" for
Margaret too in 1861.
You say Tai Bowen is missing in 1861 - is this from all records, or just
ancestry do you know?
Do you know if 1841 is available?
Thanks for the website link too - I'll begin searching
I'm very slowly filling in some massive gaps on this line.!
Regards
Amanda

Can anyone find JAMES HUGHES in 1841
This looks likely as James in 1861
Liscard Wallasey:
James Hughes 21 painter born Mold
Johanna Hughes 21 born Greasby
I have not traced James' birth / parents / siblings, so I'm hoping an
early census entry may help
Many thanks
