Fellow genealogists, Have you ever used the Internet to learn about genealogy methods and resources? Taken a genealogy course online? Read some 'how to' articles? Then I would like to hear from you. I am an Australian Ph.D. student who is currently writing a book chapter for an academic Virtual Learning Environment publication - my chapter is about using the Internet for genealogical education. I would therefore love to hear from you, fellow genealogists, about any Internet-based content you've used f

7. Llanbrynmair - long [1]
I have been researching my HUMPHREYS family in Llanbrynmair, where they seem to have been since the 1700' s and have been corresponding with a wonderful local lady who sent me information which I thought I'd pass on in case anyone else has an interest in the area. Llanbrynmair is made up of 8 small but quite separate communities. Llan was the original village which grew up round the parish church. Bont Dolgadfan grew up round the ford on what used to be the main road to Machynlleth until the present mai

9. LEWIS--Llanfyllin [1]
I am seeking information and connections to my gg grandfather, David LEWIS and his daughter, my g grandmother, Jane LEWIS. Census records show that Jane was born in Llanfyllin, Wales, c 1844. The only record I can find with these details is of a birth of a Jane LEWIS on 1 February 1845. This cert shows her mother as Mary LEWIS, but shows no father. Jane's marriage cert to George LOMAS on 26 June 1864 in St John's Manchester shows David LEWIS, labourer as her father. Any advice would be apprec
10. Re Manford [1]
Hi Listers, Does anyone have access to an index for the 1871 & 1891 census for Montgomeryshire. I am looking for a Richard Manford who was supposedly son of Richard Manford, both shepherds. He gave his age at his marriage in 1896 as 29 and in the 1901 census as 33 meaning he would have been born c1866 - 1868 so would have been between 3 and 5 in 1871 and 23 and 25 in 1891. He does not appear in 1881 transcript under that name, neither does his father Richard appear in the 1851 transcript. Thanks
11. [WLS-MGY] 1841 census Hirnant, Montgomeryshire - UK Stray [1]
Hello - I am a new subscriber to this listserv after having found that my 3x great grandfather was actually born in Hirnant, eg Enoch Southall b. 5 Feb 1829 Hirnant, Montgomery, Wales - parents Benjamin & Elizabeth Southall. I haven't managed to work out why the family was actually in Hirnant for Enoch's birth - most puzzling since the parents were married in Warwickshire in 1809, had some children in Staffordshire 1813-1819, some more in Worcestershire 1821 - 1827, then somewhere along the line went to
