If anyone has an index to, or the CD of the 1861 census covering Presteigne/Knighton could you possibly look up William Price EVANS. His son was born 1862 (also William Price Evans) so the assumption could be that he is in his 20's and married but childless or mid-to-late 20's with a child or two. The only other clue I have is the name Nell (Ellen) who could either be his wife, his sister or his daughter.
All help MOST appreciated.
Hi Lloyd, thanks for the e-mail. Samuel married a Mary Owen born in Newport
Pembs, the marriage took place in the register office in Cardiff in 1888.
There are several Samuel Williams's in Glamorgan, all with father David, but
it is finding out which one is which I am having trouble with. i.e. was he
born in Glamorgan after all, or did he move from Cardigan and live with Mary
and her family, as her address and his was the same on the marriage cert.
Her father had his own business as a ship rigger
I wonder if anyone could help me pin down my ggrandfather Isaac Vaughan born
abt 1836.
According to the 1851/1861/1881 census he was born in Brecknock.... nothing
else listed. I know from his marriage certificate his father's name was
Charles, and I think his mother may have been called Mary. I also believe he
had a brother Charles born abt 1830.
I have failed to find this family on the 1841 census for Brecknockshire and
wondered if they were in Radnorshire at this time.
I would be grateful for any help.
Hi Ann,
David & Jane Williams of Dolmynach Cwmdeuddwr are my relations and in 1901
are aged 57 &58. They did not have a son named Samuel so looks as if this
will lead nowhere.
In the 1881 census there are only three Samuels born 1870 +- 3 years in
Cardiganshire
Samuel T. born 1870 at Llangoedmore CDG, mother Sarah father not listed but
a carpenter by trade.

Samuel Age 12 born Blaenporth CDG, Father Dennis (Police Constable) mother

Good morning everyone, I am new to this list and I hope someone can help.
I am searching for my ancestor Samuel WILLIAMS, who, when he became a
merchant seaman, said he was born in Cardigan in 1870. When he married in
1888, he gave his age as 21, making his birth year around 1867.
Cardigan Register office can't find him , neither can Haverfordwest.
His father was named on his marriage cert. as David (deceased labourer), one
of the witnesses was a Jane Williams, so I did an LDS search for a Dav
My ancestors were from Presteigne but moved to Abercuynon between 1889 and
1901. They were
William Price EVANS b. 1862 son of William Price EVANS. Married Anne
PRINCE b.1869/70. Ann was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth PRINCE and
she had an older brother called Richard and an older sister called Elizabeth.
It's also possible that William Price EVANS the elder had a sister called
Ellen (Nell)
Any connections appreciated
