Dear angela, Thank you for responding to my inquirey. Peter Chaloner is my gguncle. I am actually trying to trace this family backfarther. Peter's father was a samuel who married an ann meredith. This is registered at St. Michaels church in Clyro. However there are no church records of who Samuels parents were. I was getting nowhere trying to reseach Wales,so I engaged a professional researcher amd this is what he came up with. At first I had my doubts(and I still have some). In 1861 census you will find DL Coates working at Croestic in Cenarth twp parish of St Harmon as a horse breaker. He lists himself as married. Not with his family. Found Ann Lewis

I am a descendant of BENJAMIN LEWIS who came to Adelaide,Australia in 1848 on the Princess Royal. It appears that he could be BENJAMIN LEWIS christened 11 April 1825 at Llanddewi Ystradenny Radnor. Hi Edna, The entry in the Nantmel Parish register is as follows: #162. September 12 1856 David Lewis, Full age, Bachelor, Servant, Penrhosfach, Mother, Jane Lewis. Anne Lewis, Full age, Spinster, Servant, Bailey Noyadd, Father, Thomas Lewis, Labourer. The registers were on display today in Rhayader Parish Church as part of the 'Carnival Week' celebrations.
