Hi, my woods line also started off from SC, in fact what I've found out it was around Baldoc SC in Allendale County. My GGrandfathers name was George Richard Wood b 1852 in SC, he m Florence "Fannie" Jeffcoat also b in 1852. Does this connect with your wood line.

JOHN W. WOODS b MS (some records say TX) 1839 & moved with his family in 1840
to Texas.
He is found on the 1850 census at age 11 living with parents in Robertson
County, TX.
My grandmother EULA I WOODS was b in TX, probably in that county, in Nov 27,
1872.
Based on a research started by J. Jackson of Dallas, TX. (my 2nd cousin, once
removed), he JOHN WOODS married CAROLINE M. JACKSON of Franklin, TX.in 1869.
I am seeking a record of this marriage.
John Woods & family were not found on the 1880 census
If you are restricting your research to just the Wood spelling you are doing
yourself a great injustice and possibly missing out on the greatest find in
your research. The name Wood and Woods have been mixed many times in the same
families. The name was written down the way the writer heard it pronounced.

Debbie,
Do you have a son named Thomas who may have been born to Matthew, Aaron or Richard and who may have moved to TN about 1820?

Berry and Abigail Wood of Buchanan Co, VA have a daughter Louisa age 13 on 1860 Buchanan Co, VA census. On the 1850 Lee Co, VA census there is a Elisa age 5. I think this is the same child. Need info on her. Not listed with family on 1870 census and no marriage record has been found. Dates of other children vary from 1850 to 1860 census.
Other siblings include:
Martha [mother is Delila PROFFIT] married Milburn J. Stiltner and moved to WV

Sorry I have nothing to add about your Wood, chest abnormality, although my husbands gggrandmothers maiden name was Dela Wood, she was born in NC, and married Charles Ledbetter, (they lived in Georgia, moved to TX after the Civil War and then on to OK, where they lived until their death), as far as we know there are no chest abnormalitys in our family.

My Wood Line in Georgia:
I am searching for the Father and Mother of my GG Grandfather Abraham Wood
born abt. 1800 in S.C. or Ga. (states both ways on diff. census records).
He died after 1880 in Habersham Co., Ga. in the home of his son J.J. Wood.
Abraham Wood was married 3 times. The first woman I am assuming was my GG
Grandmother but since he was not enumerated in 1850 in Franklin Co., Ga.

then in 1860 his wife Sarah is 14 y
Do you have a Dela M. Wood in your line, born either in NC or SC she was married to Charles Ledbetter, they lived in GA, then moved on to TX and OK. Dela (this is the spelling we have, but is possible could be spelled other ways) Dela & Charles were my husbands gggrandparents. Their daughter was born in 1881 or 1882, so would think Della could have been born sometime around 1840 or after. She is one of my brick walls. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Sharon,
One of the Wood families that I am researching lived in Norwood, Asphodel
Twp, Northumberland County. His name was Daniel Wood (1814- bet1881-1891)
and his father was Bradford Wood (1781-1872) of Camden Twp, Lennox and
Addington Co. He lived in Seymour with his 1st wife at the time of the 1851
census , in Asphodel in 1861, and remarried to Fanny Wildman in 1868 and
lived in the village of Norwood . He was a cooper.
Fanny and Daniel had 3 children:
Daniel b abt 1869. I don't know where he went
I'm looking for Albert Wood (b abt 1876) and his brother Wilford Wood (b.
abt 1877). They were both born in Kane County Illinois. Their parents were
James Wood (b. abt 1846 in Canada) and Etta or Ella (b. abt 1852 Vermont).
This reference is from the 1880 census for Rutland Twp, Kane Co, Ill.
James Wood was the son of John Wood and Mary Caldwell from Camden Twp,
Lennox and Addington County, Ontario Canada. His grandparents were Bradford
Wood and Jemima Pomeroy.
Has anyone come across Albert or Wilford?
Papabear, that is correct.

Sheri,
I have depressions on both front sides of my lower rib cage, not
centrally where my sternum is located, but more laterally, or on each front side of
my rib cage. If a string was tied around my chest, at sternum level, my
depressions would be level with the string and on both front sides, or just below
my pects. You are describing a depression on the sternum itself, correct?

Judith, we really don't know where they went to in TX, just that they did for a time, they left GA sometime after 1881or 82, they moved from TX to OK sometime in 1889. So they wouldn't show up on Census in TX, I wonder why they chose TX? I guess after the South lost the war there home as they knew it, didn't really exist anymore, I wonder if Dela or Charles had family somewhere in TX, I guess we will never know for sure. I haven't found any info on Dela's family, I have looked at census in SC and even in NC
We are looking for a E. D. Wood who may be the father to our Peter Wood born
1805 in South Carolina. Peter was known to have been one of the early pioneers
of Paulding County Georgia. Peter married Elizabeth Hobbs in 1832 in Georgia.
We did locate a Peter Wood in 1830 in Barnwell and living next door to George
Wood and a Mary Wood. We are trying to document if this Peter in Barnwell
is our ancestor.
