Robert, grandfather of emigrant John, was the son of Nicholas
Woodliffe/Woodeleffe, a Burgess of Henley on the Thames River (born in
Lincolnshire, died 1510, buried at Church of St. Mary, The Virgin at
Henley) and Joan; his siblings were Christopher (died young), Johane,
Robert, and
Margaret Forest. (from my web page:
http://www.geocities.com/awoodlief/woodline.html)
I don't know about the Marmaduke. Captain John brought over the
Margaret in 1619 to Berkeley.

My mistake, you are right. The Marmaduke was the ship about the same time
of another of my ancestors. It was the Margaret for Capt. Woodlief.
Thanks.

I have quite a bit I have gleaned from the Pace line, but I would like to
know more about Sarah Woodlief and her ancestors. I have the names and
dates of about 7 generations back but little else. It seems as though I am
a direct descendant of Sarah through the Pace line down to Missouri and
Texas.

Does anyone know anything about Nicholas Woodliffe or Woodlief. Died about 1510 in England. Ancestor Of John Woodlief, the Captain of the Marmaduke.
Royce Phillips
Okay gang, from the Southern Historical Research Magazine, Volume 1,
Number 1, Worth S. Ray, editor, p. 17:
"(31) Thomas E. Woodleif, Assistant Cleark. If he held Clerkship in the
Second Legislature (of Texas), we fail to find his name, but there was a
Thomas C. Woodleif, probably the same person who served as assistant
clerk of the Third House of Representatives. Deveraux J. Woodleif, who
was wounded in the Battle of San Jacinto and resided in the town of
Houston afterwards, was a close relative."
