I did not receive the link Laura sent with the cemetery pictures, however, I show this as the family of George Franklin Woodlief, he being a son of George Woodlief who md (21 Sep 1822, Hall Co, GA) Isabella Henderson. Researchers of this line connect this elder George (b ca 1787) as a son of an Augustine Woodlief who is said to have md a Mildred Ryan. The question being *which* Augustine. Possibly the Augustine (b ca 1763 or thereabouts, possibly), son of George (who died 1766) & Mary (Unknow

5. [WOODLIEF] Woodliff graves in Georgia [1]
I recently got this message. Perhaps someone related to this line would be interested: Dear Friends, I, like you, am an avid geneology searcher, so I thought you might be interested in this information. I was recently in Gainesville, Georgia visiting friends when we happened upon a VERY small cemetery (less than 100 stones), unmarked and very unkept. I didn't have my camera or paper with me, otherwise I would have taken down more information. I was, however, able to memorize one tablet so that I

Very cool for us all. Several newspapers did mention the good Cap't. I understand that President Bush will give his Thanksgiving talk at Berkeley Plantation on Monday, around 12:30 or so. Could be that he will talk about the "real" first Thanksgiving--and maybe even mention the good captain. Don't know for sure. There was no Thanksgiving celebration at Berkeley this November--support has dried up. A former governor (Baliles) is campaigning for the state and country to get behind celebrating the first Thanksgiving there--again. Perhaps this is part of the campaign (he
9. Re: [WOODLIEF] Where was the first Thanksgiving? [1]
Dear Woodliefs: I live about 35 miles from San Francisco, Ca. and have been watching TV and reading all of our newspapers in the area, nothing about the first Thanksgiving has even been mentioned as far as I can tell. There was an extensive TV program about New England and the Pilgrims and that they actually celebrated the first Thanksgiving. Berkeley was mentioned and that the first Thanksgiving was not there. Then there was an article in the Contra Costa Times, great detail regarding Plymouth Rock,

The President didn't mention the good Captain, but there were good tv pictures here of him examining the Woodlief/First Thanksgiving monument (which is a little weatherworn, but on the whole ok). It was a crowd full of enthusiastic Republicans, I gather, with the Godspeed replica (or Goodspeed, I forget which it is) in the river behind him.
