Try looking in the Petersburg area for a marriage liscense for Thomas
Woodief and Elizabeth Claiborne. Also some of the female Woodlief's are
daughters of other Woodlief brothers. Thanks for the info. Diane

sibling is said to be a Thomas C. Woodlief of Texas, born ca 1818.)
I cannot locate a marriage record for a Thomas Woodlief to an Elizabeth

Today I received from the Sacramento, CA., Public Library photocopies of
the following newspaper notices:
11 Nov 1854 issue of the Sacramento Union....
under the column announcing "Deaths":
"In San Francisco, Nov. 8th, Col. D. Y. Woodlief, late of Texas, aged 48
years."
(sandy's note: the middle initial is printed as "Y". No other details
were given - it is a simple death notice in a column listing 5 different
deaths).
