Greetings,
I am in need of information on two issues of the WARFA quarterlies.
First, Vol. I, No. 1, March 1981....The last page I have is page 22,
yet, this should to through page 63 with several additional pages.
Also, I am need Vol. 4, No. 4, Dec. 1984. All I have of this copy is
the cover page.
Does anyone have these pages? I will be glad to pay costs for copying
and shipping. Please notify me personally if you can assist me in
obtaining these copies.
Thanks,
Martha Wooten Solomon
I am seeking additional info on RALPH WOOTEN (b. 1805 - 1810). In the 1850
census he is listed with Milley (age 40 - his wife I guess), Elizabeth 19,
John 17, Rachel 15, Daniel 13, Malachi 11, Wade 7, and Samuel 5. I don't
find him after 1850.
Also, I have heard a lot about WARFA. Is there an expert out there who can
give me an idea of the extent of information in the journals, when they
were compiled, where hard copies are available, and of any plans to put
these on-line. If there is an org that woul
Hi, Sue. When I saw your message about a "wandering" James Wooten, I just
had to reply because I have one of those too. My wandering James is James
Alford Wooten; according to family history he was born in Kentucky and
"married" (maybe common law) my ggrandmother Louisiana Eplin (b 1865). She
had six children who carried the Wooten name; they lived in West Virginia.
Family lore also suggests Louisiana found out James had another wife and
children somewhere else. James might have had a sister named Mary Ja

I am a new subscriber and I live in Louisiana. I would be happy to assist
anyone, but would be most successful with migrations through La. I am
requesting additional information on SAMUEL WOOTAN of South Carolina
(living in Darlington District South Carolina in 1860). He was listed as
17 in the 1860 census and was living with two women (Mary age 73 and Leah
age 32. Leah was listed as blind). Samuel's place of birth was also as SC
(1840 -1843). Soon after the census, Samuel married Eliza Langston. Th
Glenda,
Thanks for your help. I did find a Samuel with Ralph in the 1850 census,
but you had more info than was offered by the census (such as Ralph's
middle name and another name for the lady of the house). Do you recall
where you might have gathered that information? I'm hoping there is
something else that would prove this is my Sam. Thanks.
P.S. I am almost complete with a small database of every Wooten, Wootan,
Wooton, and Ooten in SC in from 1850 - 1870 as picked up in the Federal
census. It in
I was searching the FTM site and lo and behold I found my wandering James
Wooten in the 1850 Dallas Co, AL census. He was working as an overseer.
I don't know if he was working on the farm above or the one below his
entry.
The wife's name and children are correct. It states that my husband's
ancestor William was born in FL. 1st child born SC ca 1844, second child
born FL ca 1846, 3rd child born AL ca 1849.
I wonder why so much wandering, couldn't keep a job?
Sue Wooten
There was no book by Richard C. Wooton. The WARFA papers are hundreds of
pages long.

I am looking for MARTHA ANN WOOTEN born 1854-5 in Greenville Cty. S.C. She has a
brother named GREENBURY OR GREENBERRY WOOTEN. They were in the Glassy
Mountain township in the 1850-1860's. She is buried in the Glassy Mountain Cemetary.
Died 1898. She was married to LORENZA DOW MCMAKIN -
GREENBURY WOOTEN is shown on the census 1870 as BERRY.
Family source said he lived in Arkansas, later.
Thanks for any help.

Hi, I would like to obtain copies of the WARFA. I am unable at this time to

for sale anywhere? If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to take a look at our web site - address below. Very large

Have you looked in Pickens Co.? It's just a few miles from Greenville Cty.
S.C. and there was a GREEN B. male (12 years old) living with Solomon
Wooten. There is a 5 year old female, but I am unable to make out the
name. Good luck.
On the 1850 Census of Marshall Co Ms is the following family:
Narcissa Wooten Female age 52 born in N C
Jessee W Wooten Male age 28 born in N. C.
Sarah J Wooten Female age 17 born in Va (She is Jessee's wife)
A. J. Wooten male age 12 born NC ( later census reveals name is Andrew J)
Martha Wooten age 17 F born Tenn ( Andrew's Wife)
Wm C Wooten Age 9/12 born Ms (child of Andrew and Martha)
The question is who is Narcissa? I know subsequent events as to Andrew and
Jessee but can not trace Narcissa to
Vol. 1, No. 1 does go through pg 63. Unsure what is meant by several
additional pages.
Vol 4, No. 4 begins with page 135 and goes through 207 which includes the
index for 1984.
Can supply both although the Vol 1 is not in very good shape.

I have recently visited an older relative of my that I received a great
amount of information. My family is into their 31st year of having very well
organized family reunions and a book has been published each year since the
first reunion. This communication is two fold. One I am trying to find more
connections so that I can communicate to them about this years reunion and to
find someone else in my huge family that has the passion for our past as I do.
These are but a few of my Surnames:
MOBLEY,
Belated congratulations from more of your clan!! Way To Go!!!
