Grayson Countians in the Civil War
During the American Civil War, there were 2,527 men who were of the proper
age to have served in the military. Of this total, I have been unable to
find service records for 772 men, 516 of whom were found in Grayson County
in 1860. The remainder were identified from the 1870 Grayson County Census
A great find for me today. Have been searching for proof of Wm.'s son
Elijah. Wm is buried in Washington County IN. in the Wright Cemetary. I
guess he died in Jackson Co IN, because I found in loose probate papers ,
his estate papers where he names his children Elijah, Selah, Samuel, Sarah,
Arvin, Morgan, Westley and Elizabeth. The paper is witnessed by Elijah and
Westlee Wright.
