My own notes about the Wheeling photographers indicate that Connel Studio was
not found in the City Directory for 1900 but was found in 1903. It was still
found in 1912 but was not found in 1920.
In other words, I have the photographer info for 1900, 1903, 1912
I have just acquired a photo taken in Wheeling, WV, by a photographer
shop that looks like Connel or Connil. Could SKS take a look at
Wheeling City Directories to see when this shop was in business. The
lady in the photo is wearing clothing that would seem to be late 1860 to
1880. I suspect it is my Great Great Grandmother, Ann Waterhouse
Ripley, who passed away in Nov 1882, but can't be sure, because there is
no ID.
Thanks

Does your book have anything on Hampshire co. My ancestor was Israel
Johnson bn. abt. 1790 in Va. He lived in what was Hampshire co., Va. in those
days and W. VA. today.
His son was Zachariah Johnson who maintained the old homestead at Points.
Israel was my husbands G. Grandfather and my husband is descended from
Israel's son ISAAC. He married a Hughes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi, Everyone:
I have added 219 bios, almost all with photos, to the Wheeling Area
Genealogical Society site. The subjects are from Ohio, Brooke and Marshall Counties.
The bios are in COLLECTION I at the top.

From the Marshall County site, there is a link at the top of the Biographies
page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/bios.htm (I did not post the bios
pertaining to Marshall County in the regular list of the Marshall County bios.)

Hi, Everyone:
I added about 85 more biographies, almost all with photos, from the book
"West Virginians of 1934-35" published by the Wheeling Intelligencer. Of the
hundreds of bios in the book, I only posted those from Marshall, Ohio and Brooke
Counties.
These new additions are COLLECTION I on the biographies' page - - on the
site I do for the Wheeling Area Genealogical Society. This page is also
accessible from a link on my Marshall County biographies' page.

I am searching for any information about the company named May & Rogers in
W.Va. around 1870-1880. I have a letter of recommendation on the letter and
wanted to know what type of business this was. Thank you for any assistance or
suggestions where to look for this information - Lynn in California
My grandfather had a half-brother named Bayard McClean ( b. @ 1870)
who died in infancy.
I am interested in how this Roberts family might be connected to the
McCleans.
Also looking for McClean chapel built about 1887 near Moundsville
