Hi, Everyone:
As you know, I published THE FAMILY OF WAYNE on the Calhoun County page
last year. Audra Wayne had asked me to put the book online in order to
provide an accurate record of the family history/genealogy.
Soon after I began working on the project, Audra suffered a heart attack and
subsequently had heart bypass surgery. Unfortunately, she never recovered
and, sadly, she passed away last Thursday.
I met Audra for the first time on May 15. I put a photo on the Marshall
County pag
I am looking for information on Jeptha & Catherine Kerns Smith who were
married in Farquier Co., VA. They had 12 surviving children there, then moved
to the Clarksburg, WV area by 1860 and eventually some moved to Calhoun Co.

Hello,
I am a Cunningham descendent thru Thomas and Phoebe's daughter, who married
Isaac Collins. Recently, I read your article "Our Proud Heritage, Part 4" and
have a question. (I do not have much on the Cunningham family as such - only
as it pertains to my father's family line of Haddox and my mother's family of
Morrison are also retlated thru the Cunninghams.)
I was trying to figure out where William Cunningham - Service, VA No. 6529
fits in. He would have been abt 16 year of age for the Revoluti

My great-grandfather, Silas Fairbee/Ferrebee (spelling was changed) was
born in 1878
in Tyler or Calhoun County, West Virginia. His siblings include a twin,
Isaac (Ike), William, David, John, Jerry, Elizabeth, Jane, Aira, Letta,
& Virginia (all according to family legend--no proof). Parents were,

I just visited an uncle of mine, Harry Douglas, a
descendant of Lucinda Godbey Bailey, wife of William
W. Bailey of Calhoun County. Harry told me this story,
which I'd never heard before, and I'm wondering if
anyone can confirm it or provide more detail. W.W.
Bailey was in the Civil War on the Confederate side.
One day during the war, Lucinda was boiling water in a
big iron kettle for scalding a hog. Federal soldiers
came to the farm to steal food, etc. Lucinda pushed
one of them into the pot, killing him,

I am interested in four families with ties to Calhoun County. My grandmother
was born there in 1925 and still has land near Mt. Zion. I have just begun
my research, but the four families are the following:
Kirby/Kerby
Smith
Roberts
Riggs
The Smiths still own land there, but the Kerbys sold their land which was
adjacent to the Smith's land. I have been

Hello Linda,
I am trying to find information on the Jeptha Smith descendents, in hopes of
also, getting information on Jeptha's ancestors and country of origin.
Jeptha moved from Farquier Co., VA and was on the 1860 Harrison Co. census.
He had 12 children living to adulthood. They include: Jeptha Henry, Mildred,
James Lewis, Susan D

Hi, Everyone:
I am enroute to West Virginia and will be there by Wednesday. If you have a
file or anything you want to send for the pages, it would be helpful if you
can hang on to them until I get back to Louisiana.
I may be gone for two weeks but I have my laptop computer.
Thanks
Linda
Hi Rhonda,
According to the "Cemeteries in Calhoun County West Virginia", Lucinda
Bailey died 19 Sep 1925. Lucinda was also listed in the 1870 Census of
Calhoun County as a 38 year old housekeeper. Neat story though, but if
it happened she apparently survived the incident.
