I have no info about Nancy HART other than this article on Nancy HART, which
was submitted by a Harry LYNCH and included in the "Nicholas Co. WV History
1985" (pg. 114). Not much, but it paints a picture of Nancy and her Civil War
participation:
"There was a price on her head, this lady guerilla of the Confederate
Partisans who was known as Peggy Hart to the Federal Troops. But her real
name was Nancy Hart, and she carved one of the more interesting chapters in
the history of Nicholas County.

Hi Carmen and Listers,
How are you? Well, Carmen and some others have raised some questions
about dates etc. for
Peter Livesay and Mary Legg and the family. So, I have tried to get
together lists of "documented
facts" This may help us narrow down the dates a little better. It
appears that the dates which Nancy Schmellenkamp gave me for the family
might be a little off. I have no idea of her documentation. Appreciate
any help in helping us to verify these dates as there does seem to be
quite a discussion a

My family is also buried in Riverview cemetery. I believe (not 100% sure) the status is that there are no more plots left to "purchase" there, but it is still maintained. There is NO office, I believe there is a man hired who is "caretaker", you would have to call him at home in order to find out anything specific about the cemetery. However, I doubt he could tell you much about anything other than general info. The cemtery book that someone previously wrote about is the best bet, unless you have a dif

I have a problem in NIcholas Co., and hope for help from fellow-WVians.
James Philander and Sarah W. B. PATTESON died while visiting kin folk in
Appomattox Co., VA in 1862. They owned land in Nicholas Co., which is listed
as
"estate of..." etc. Can anyone tell me how this was distributed? This
would be after 1862, and possibly later than the usual case due to the War?
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
P.S. This name is correctly spelled without an R.
Hello Robin,
We have checked the cd rom from Broderbund #309 which is the 1850 VA
census microfilmed.
We did not find any of the names on there. We also checked our FTM for
those names and
did not find them. If we had dates for these people, we might be able
to verify the county
that they actually were in in the 1850 Census. Without knowing that, it
is impossible to
narrow this down.
Happy hunting.

Hi Sandra, and Listers,
How are you? I have found alot of good information on that 1850 Va.
Census, which of course
still lists counties, which later became WVA. Some of it is extremely
difficult to read. But it
is possible to print the pages, when they are readable. I have not been
able to print the pages
in enlarged fashion; though, so a magnifier is needed to read the
printed page, successfully.
It will allow us to enlarge or zoom into the pages before printing, so
that helps in making the
