Those with Hancock County Stewart ancestry may be interested to know that there is a project underway to sort out the connectedness of various Stewart family lines through DNA testing. My Stewart line, which descends through John Stewart who was born 1823 in Pennsylvania and married Jane Melvin in Hancock County, has been tested and shown to have a common male Stewart ancestor with a line that immigrated to Pennsylvania but moved on to North Carolina in the late 1700s.
