Glenna,
I also saw it as Stodgen in the early 1700's.
Funny how they changes names.

Hello,
I am interested in acquiring a obituary of a family friend who once was a
part of the Cherry Tree church, Logan, WV. Buddy Deskins(Rev.) husband of
Lois Hall-Deskins.
I understand he lived in Wayne and pastured until about 2 years ago.
I believe his death has been this winter, but rather recent.
If anyone saw it in the Logan Banner I appreciate any word.
Thank you,
Judi C.
The family bible is one of the best ways to preserve records. I have one
,with all birth, death, marriage , military records. My eldest will get the bible
when i pass on.
Its still important, even with all the modern recording ways.I also am leaving
my youthful stories,on paper,I also believe its imprortant to list parents,on
grave markers'
maybe im old fashioned, but its the way i beieve

Glenna and Judi,
Are either of you familiar with a Catherine Sturgill, born about 1886, who
married Thomas Buzzard in Logan County in 1907? Would she perhaps be a
daughter of one of Blackburn and Lucinda's sons? I think her name was
spelled Catherine Sturgill on the marriage record, but it sounds close
enough to possibly be the same family. I looked at the 1880 census link
that Glenna sent, and it looks like Blackburn and Lucinda had sons who
would have been old enough to be Catherine's father.

Peggy,
I for one was not offended. I grew up hearing the stories, most of us from
Logan probably did.
I know that my Baisden and Clark boys had there rowls at Black Bottom.
I never knew the other name before we were told on here.
But, also I do not think of "Milk" when I remember Milk House Holler either.
Names do not always bring reflections of particulars. When I say the name,
it is just a place, no an insult intended.

Jim,
What year did they go to Cass County? Cass County was/is a farming region.
It is also close to Lake Michigan and many people there work/worked in
industries that had to do with shipping on the Great Lakes. It is also
close to Chicago.

In my search, I've found some relatives who moved to Rush Co, IN in the mid
to late 1800s. I've also seen this migration on other people's family
trees. Anyone know WHY our ancestors moved to Rush Co, IN? What was
happening there then?
Thanks!
Sandy

My cousin a May who's grandmother a Hannah lived at Dingess had a Aunt marry
Riley Dillon?spell
and another man related to Riley.
My great Aunt Mary Hannah-May lived at Dingess Run when I went to see her
around 1960.
Mary's children were all grown and probably had grandchildren of their own.
Mary had 85 grandchildren.
If this rings any bells let me know and I will seek more Dillon info for you
on Riley.

Hi Shelby;
Congratulations, on reaching 81 that puts you in a small group
that gets smaller al the time, I think you wish Norma could have been there
to help you celebrate but that wasn't to be. I wish she could be with you
also , she was a fine woman and I think you will miss her for a long time.
She was part Browning, you know and I dony know if that was a hindrance or
help but I liked her

Glenna,
My paternal grandmother, Martha Anna Hannah-Clark's mother was Martha Jane
Sturgell, some spelled Sturgill. She was married to Isaac H. Hannah s/o
John Scott Hannah of Floyd co. KY.
I do not have anything on her but the census with Isaac.
Also that she died before him, he remarried, Martha and Isaac are both
buried in the Hannah in Mingo co.

Thank You for this Judi!
Your sharing this was one of the best things I have found online. I have
found so much information and have spent hours and hours on this wonderful
site that you provided for us. Please remember me and update me with the new
changes. I don't care what we talk about on this list, as long as we talk.
